Plateaus - those pesky little things!

Postby Serendipity » May 21st, 2007, 10:20 am

I am stealing this from another board, but I just thought it was fantastic.

When you are plateauing, you may want to look at it as "maintenance training". You don't have the scale moving to keep you motivated so you just need to eat right without the reward of the scale moving.

hmmmmm "Maintenance Training" is the term I will now use for all of you out there complaining about plateaus.......you KNOW who your are! mmmmmwwaaaaaaaahhahahahhahaa

Maintenance training, I LOVE THAT!

I'm sure I've got at least one more good plateau in me before I hit goal, when I start whining about it, remember to remind me...maintenance training!

I am so nervous about hitting a plateau, that I have not even thought about maintnece. Should I be thinking about that now. :?: Just like my mom said in her aa meetings One day at a time.

Katie, My first time around (16 yrs ago), I had no plan for maintenance. I thought I'd tackle the weight loss and then worry about maintenance when I got there. Big mistake! I didn't have a clue about what to do to stay thin, so the ball started rolling the other way immediately and within a month I had put 10 pounds back on. It took 2 years, but I gained it all back and more. So this time I made it my mission to have a good maintenance plan in place before I ever got there. From the start, I read books, talked to people who have lost weight and kept it off, practiced in my head, thought about what I would do if my weight started creeping back on, etc. So far it's worked like a dream, but it is work and planning can only make it easier.
