Well, NOW you got my attention. A new dog??? How exciting!!! I want pictures!!! What names are you thinking about?

And congrats on three days of compliance. You can do this!!! (And if you crave chocolate, eat the pudding!! Always helped me. Although I pretty much lost my chocolate cravings on the program because it seemed like everything was chocolate-flavored already. I know it's not the same as really GOOD chocolate, but still.)

I am giving the boys a chance to name the new dog. They have until the end of the day tomorrow to reach an agreement or I will name him. They have each thought of good names but can not agree with each other. I will post photos soon.

Chocolate craving - that chocolate craving was not just a taste issue (although I really wanted that dark chocolate taste), it was a mouth feel issue as well. The was the first time since I started the program that I could not overcome the chocolate craving with one of the many chocolate choices the program has to offer. I am struggling. I watched "The Biggest Loser" last night and that really helped. Also, the food network has a weight loss show that came on last night that was pretty good. Both programs were very motivating. I just need to suck it up and get on with it.

Thanks you for the encouragement!

I created a new post under "What's Shakin" about the new puppy. I sent UNCA the photos so you should be able to see her tomorrow.

I saw. Adorable!! Not that I've seen a dog that isn't adorable!

I watch shows like that, too, for motivation. Biggest Loser, Celebrity Fit Club, etc.

I'm sorry to hear you're still struggling. It can definitely be hard at times. You just need to figure out a way to get your back in the game, I think. Maybe revisit some old posts about what motivates you and others? Maybe a tour of the Studio? I don't know. I know how tough it can be, though.

Thanks Robin,

I did go back to the studio today for some motivation. It is most helpful when I can see how long it took each person to get to their goal. I am getting back on track but still taking it one day at a time so I don't slip. I have a mini goal of -80 by 10-22 and I still have 2 pounds to lose to get there. I have not missed a mini goal yet so I am working hard to get there.

Thanks for the boost! I know you understand how it is and it is easy for me to listen to you because of that fact.

October 21, 2006 - Saturday - I am stuck! The scale has not moved in six days and I am hoping that will mean once it does move I will be at my mini goal and in the 80 pound club.

I have started to eat more of the filling MF foods instead of only the RTD shakes and I am feeling a lot more satisfied. The RTD's are so easy with no prep time or blending but they are not as filling as oatmeal or chili or a blended shake with lots of ice. I am still taking it one meal at a time but I am getting back in the groove (or getting my mojo back as Robin says).

I think returning to work is causing more stress than I want to admit. Even though I am totally bored and really want to go back, I know the challenges I will face once I am back with my nose to the grindstone.

Thanks everyone for the much needed advice and support

October 24, 2006 – Tuesday – Note to self NEVER EVER TAKE VITAMINES ON AN EMPTY STOMACH!!! OMG pain like I could not believe! I will never do that again and I can’t believe how stupid I was to have done it even once.

I made it to the 80 pound club on my forecast date and that made me very happy. It seems that the weight is coming off at a rate of about 10 pounds per month. I would like to find a way to bump this up but for now as long as I am still losing I am going to stick to the plan. I also want to bump up my exercise level without hurting my knees. I have had pain in my knees for years from an old basketball injury. When I do more than 30 minutes of walking each day I aggravate my knees. If I stay at or below I am fine. I am not sure if bumping up my activity level will help or hurt the weight loss but I am afraid to alter/tweak the eating part of the plan.

We are going to Las Vegas this weekend for Halloween craziness. My Son(24) and Daughter(28) are going with me so it should be a blast. Las Vegas is the perfect Halloween party place. Even when it is not Halloween it is party central but Halloween takes it to a whole new level. My other 2 sons (16 & 26) are having a Halloween party and will be pet sitting for the weekend.

More later…

What about swimming, PJ? That's great for people with knee problems. Or even biking, maybe, so you put less weight on your knees?

I do bike, I have an exercise bike and alternate between walking and biking & that is my 30 min of cardio. I may go back to swimming (good suggestion) but that means I will have to heat the stupid pool because otherwise the water is WAY to cold. This weird Califonia weather, warm during the day and clod at night, makes the water temp too chilly. Swimming was really good to me in the summer time and I bought some pool exercise toys to add resistance.

Thanks Robin,

PJ

I SO miss living in California sometimes, because it DOES cool down at night!

What about a gym or a Y or something? If there's one nearby, you could use their pool.

My uncle has something called the Endless Pool that he just adores. It produces a current to swim against, like a treadmill for swimming.

There is a Y near me but I do not swim in public. Maybe after I lose another 50 pounds I will have the self confidence to do that but not now. I have seen that "endless pool" and if I did not already have a pool I would be tempted to get one. I am going to try heating the pool and see what the impact is on my budget. If it is not too horrendous I think that will be the best option. In addition if it is warm my offspring will use it as well.

I hear you on the night time cool down. I LOVE IT!!! No matter how hot it gets during the day I know it will cool down at night and everyone can sleep comfortably. I grew up in Michigan where it would be hot and humid day and night (YUCK!!) I love the weather here.

Thanks Robin  ,

November 2, 2006 – Thursday – Several months ago I bought YOU the owners manual and pre-ordered YOU on a diet, both books were written by Dr Michael Roizen & Dr Mehmet OZ. The first book is such a great reference for staying healthy and understanding my body. I bought the book for my daughter and each of my adult sons. Monday I received YOU on a diet. It is FABULOUS! It explains, in terms that anyone can understand, what happens with the food we eat and the cravings we get. I am not going to go off the Medifast plan but this book is really helping me stick to the program. I was having a huge problem sticking to the plan and staying motivated. The health information in this new book really helps me understand how dangerous it is to be so overweight and how important it is to get rid of the fat and get healthy. It also came with a DVD that has 3 exercise routines, beginner, intermediate and advanced. I highly recommend this book to anyone that might have issues with sticking to the program and staying motivated to lose the weight. I feel just as motivated today as I did when I started this program. I am positive I will stay motivated and make it to my goal.

November 4, 2006 - Saturday - I am so happy I got this book!! It really has me thinking about the health issues related to being overweight. Also, I found out that they have a "You on a Diet" show on Discovery Health. The first show profiled 4 people in New York and their journey to get healthy. Two were father and daughter and I found their story the most motivating. The daughter is only 12 and weighed 195 pounds and had a waist measument of 44 inches. I think getting kids on track early is so important so they learn how to manage their health when they are adults. Hopefully they will pass their knowledge on to their friends and eventually their children.

I am back in the groove and very happy that my motivation is back where I need it to be to reach my goals.

Good for you, PJ!!! I just saw "You on a Diet" in the Costco magazine. I'll have to take a look next time I'm there. Although I may save it till the next time I'm in need of some extra motivation.
