pie

Postby Loribug » May 9th, 2006, 3:08 pm

I am a pie person, not a cake person. Well, I'll eat cake too. My mother made a pound cake and a sweet potato casserole today. "do you want some honey?"

I said "No, make one next year and I might try a bite"

She got the message.

That sounds like something my mommy would do. We live in different states...she knows I am dieting...and she keeps saying
"when are you coming to visit...I will make you some rice and meatballs"...my fave.....

Sheesh....knowing what her plan is...I might not see her for awhile!

My Mom made pie(coconuy creme...MY FAV.) while I was home last month. It was so hard, but I just told her I havent come this far in my journey to throw in the towel at this point.

MMMM, Pie!...

Okay, I'm back....had a little pie daydream... Way to go defying the pie, and politely turning down your mum!

You're shakin' now! If you can Avoid the pie, you can avoid ANYTHING off plan! I would've had to put it in my safe!

This is such a hard situation and you handled it with great finesse. As we journey through our battle with food and it's hold over us, our families have to re-think their food associations, as well. Most people associate home-made food with love, appreciation, safety and security so we definitely have to retrain our families thinking.

I have had a difficult time with my husband's side of the family as they always want to go out to dinner or have a special meal when we're in town. My MIL has a personal chef with a degree in pastry chef'ing (or whatever it's called). It's always a fantastic spread so we have not been to see her since the diet began. However, we are going for Thanksgiving so I'm already working on the programming in my head.

Best of luck!!!

I went home this past weekend, and my mother is on Nutrisystems. Our entire conversation was about dieting and weight loss, and yesterday when I got home she had sent me a package for my bd....

It was chocolate chip cookies and brownies from this famous brownie maker... I thought I was going to cry.....

but once again, I took them to work, gave them to the girls that work across the hall, and they think I am the most thoughtful woman in the world.... whoo hoo... another crisis averted....

Terri ~ This is just too much. Your mom sent brownies knowing you were dieting AND she is dieting. Oh, you poor thing. I bet your co-workers REALLY like you <grin>.
