Pepperoncini

Postby FORMOMMY » April 3rd, 2006, 1:05 pm

I think that is how you spell it. Anyway, my wonderful hubby who makes my salads for me at night asked if I could have a couple of these in the salad - I love them and used to always have them in there.

I wasn't sure if I could count them in with the added veggies that I put in the greens.

Anyone?? :?: :?: :?:

If I can add a question along those lines too... Pepperocini's would be great in place of the pickle. I am wondering about green chili's, most salsa has green chili in it and we can have that??? So just wondering so I can spice some things up a bit.

Thanks

I found this online...

Three pepperocinis contains about 10 calories.

30 Grams of pepperocinis contains about 10 calories.

A serving of pepperocinis (little yellow peppers) contains close to 500 mg of sodium. That's a lot of salt! Be sure to remove the stems before consumption.

With regards to green chilis, I know a bunch of people use ro-tel tomatos so I cant see why green chilis would be a problem. I LOVE the flavor of green chilis!

YUM!

For those curious about things like this, might I recommend the website triple dubya dot nutritiondata dot com? It is a vast database of most every food type you can think of. I believe if one were to use Nancy's recommended calories/carbs/protien and fat grams as guidelines for the lean and green, one could really work out the details about lean and green meal ideas. I have used this site for a very long time and cannot think of a single time it didnt have nutritional data for whatever I was looking for.

Hope this helps!

They're really just peppers, so I would think they'd be OK in small amounts. It's not like you're going to eat a cupful of 'em.
