Hello -

Still hanging there - so happy I found this site and all the wonderful people here :D

I don't have much of a challenge with weekends so I am fortunate I think. I like being home and being able to use the blender for my shakes etc...but I have still stayed completely compliant since Day 1 - which for me, is amazing ;)

I will have some challenges ahead and lots going on in my head which I have to learn to to worry about until the time comes...the old "Serenity Prayer"...

Like our friend Mary here, I also have a mother who is ill. She is and has been my closest and dearest friend. She was diagnosed with brain cancer a few months ago and doesn't have much time. It seemed as though she deteriorated in a moment. She is unfortunately over 3,000 miles away from me so trying to talk on the phone is so sad and frustrating. Some days we can communicate and others  My daughter and I will try and go see her in 5-6 weeks and stay for as long as we can. Financially it is a challenge. My husband has been out of work since January and though filed for unemployment, they are challenging it and he is in the appeal process - still...it will be 11 weeks Sunday and we should hear something next week. We are in the eviction process where we live and I am also in the process of losing my car...so needless to say, life is a bit challenging overall. Plus I need to get my daughter ready for kindergarten at the end of August so the timing about seeing my Mom is tight.

This is why this program and this site is SO important to me. I need to take care of myself during all of this...

Patty, Very sorry to hear about your mom and the struggles your going thru, I'll keep you in my prayers. Sometimes when we are going through hard times it's a good idea to journal your thoughts (privately or publicly). You will have lots of support on this board. I'm sending hugs your way.

Patty, what an incredibly difficult time you (and your husband) are experiencing. Staying compliant during so much emotional upheaval is very commendable. By not attempting to feed your emotions (which does NOT work in the long run as we all know) you are making huge steps towards beating the monster of emotional eating. You are teaching yourself and your daughter that food isn't what we run to when stressed. I wish I had learnt that lesson a long time ago instead of doing it now.

I wish I knew something to say that would help right now. You are being bombarded on all sides with difficult situations. I am glad you are here and just remember that whatever is happening in your life----eating is not going to solve it. Food isn't going to make your problems and worries go away so it is best to use food for fuel (as God planned) and just take each hour as it comes and ride out the roller coaster that life has you on.

My very best to you. I hope life evens out and some good things come your way.......soon.

Thank you all so much  you all...

Had kind of a creepy day at work - my land "lady" (lady used loosely - and who also happens to be my sister-in-law but the kind that has no idea of the word "family" ) called me about our rent etc...caught me completely off guard but I guess she finagled the # out of someone!0 anyway, it woul dhave been a trigger for eating, but it wasnt :) thought of everyone here and how I didn't want to let you all down...thanks so much!

And Laura - You look wonderful! Love your avi!!!

PATTY, My goodness, sweetheart
What we can do is keep you in our prayers and thoughts...
Emotional times like this can really rack all your good intentions, as so many here can attest to.
Hold on to this one thought concerning your important MF plan,

"If I don't take the first bite off plan, I will be okay!"

It worked for me during some stressful times.
Just remember you can come to your journal any time for help and encouragement.
Lizabette
