My personal opinion is to go with online. :-P You should see your regular doctor to make sure he/she approves and that you don't have any underling reasons not to do MF. With online you will get your own personal Health Advisor to assist you through the whole process, like a buddy that you can lean on in times of need and celebrate with during times of success. And of course this forum is not like any other. The folks here are great. Very supportive!!!!

GOOD LUCK!!!!!!

Hi Popper, Welcome! I think if your going to do the 5 MF replacements and 1 Lean and Green the forum would be great, but if your going to do total MF than its recommended to see a doctor, but the forum is still great to have and use! Nancy will hopefully pipe in and will give you great advice as she does to everyone here.

On Your Own or with a Dr.

Postby Jan » October 24th, 2005, 8:04 pm

On Your Own or with a Dr.s help??
Most people are just fine doing the program on their own. However, if you have any medical issues your Dr. should probably monitor you and certainly if you are going to do the complete fast ( no lean and green)
For the rest of us, we just order our food, read read read, listen to our health advisor -- helps with many common little problems -- and part with the pounds. It is very safe and quick. You must decide for yourself as to if you need a Dr. to monitor you or not. Generally it is a good idea to have yourself checked out before you start to make sure you have no unkown medical issues . If all is "ok" then just proceed with the program with the help of a Health Advisor.
Good Luck you will do fine.

Popper ~

Glad ya popped in on us here! It is always a good idea to check with your doctor before making changes to your health.

We don't know much about your needs from this initial post but if you have diabetes, please know that Take Shape For Life recommends that you consult with your primary care physician or diabetes specialist before beginning any program using Medifast Plus for Diabetics.

Your oral medication and/or insulin dosages may be decreased even
before you start the program. The doctor will also decide on how often you
should monitor your blood sugar and what caloric intake is best for you.

People who take medication for high blood pressure often need to have their meds adjusted when they lose 25 pounds.

Popper, there are happy and thinner days ahead for you!

On your own or under doctor supervision

Postby JulieAnn » October 28th, 2005, 3:14 pm

Popper,

From my personal experience  , I am monitored through a Medifast Doctor and I had Hypertension, Asthma and Gastric Reflux when I started the program. I had a physical before beginning and went to my doctor every two weeks for the first several months which turned out to be important because I lost alot at first and started having bruises for no reason and my doctor kept an eye on my blood work because rapid weight loss can cause those types of problems (which I didn't know) and the extra personal advisor watching me helping me really gave me a reason to stick with the program and also It reassures me that my body is becoming healthier. Now I am off all my medications except my Blood pressure medicine which the dose has been cut in half. My blook work is wonderful compared to before and my doctor is so encouraging and supportive. I love this forum too and it helps me to have both. My doctors office sells the medifast but I order myself online because the selection is better and when you buy as much as I do its cheaper.
If you have any health problems as other have said it would be best for you to be under a doctor's supervision.

Best of luck to you which ever way you choose to Medifast.
