Opinion On Bars

Postby FitQueen » January 5th, 2007, 4:48 pm

Do you think that one bar per day slows the weightloss process down?

I read a post where one member mainly drinks the shakes (no bars) and with a lean meal. Her weightloss is phenomenal.

Thanks,
Ruth aka FitQueen

I don't really know. I know who you are talking about and yeah, it is nice to know what exactly others are doing. I have thought about it a little bit and have gone without bars before, but I generally do have one each day. I have decided that for me, if it really *did* slow things down, overall it's not enough to make me cut it out altogether. Maybe sometimes when I feel like it, but, it helps me feel like I am still dealing with "real" food, which helps *me* stay on altogether (and therefore expediates the process overall).

Anyway, sorry if that's not very informative. Just my thoughts.

Cheers,

Karli,

Thanks for your input. I think that after I finish my supply of bars, I am going to layoff on the bars.

I see that you are also doing great on the MF plan. Please share your eating plan.

Thanks,

Oh, well... hee hee, generally :

2 shakes/soups
1 bar
1 brkfst item
1 dessert item
(L/G) -- most often a chicken on salad or a scramble

But, I will note, my journey had a few stops along the way. So, it's taken me overall longer mostly due to that. However, I know I still lost over 20 pounds the first month faithfully following the general plan that I posted just above (and that's not abnormal). Also, generally, I don't snack at all nor drink much in the way of sodas or crystallite type stuff (except for I do have one decaf coffee each day). Occasionally I will, but only occasionally.

You can always just try different things within the program and see what you get. I think that the program was originally just shakes, if I am not mistaken. And then, at one point it was to have at least 3 shakes a day (or something like that). I guess the company feels that what they have now is pretty comparable in terms of results.

Maybe some others will stop by here and give you a little more info.

Cheers,
Karli

I had a bar every single day I was on the 5 & 1 plan. I lost an average of 2.4 pounds/week. I suppose having a bar every day may have slowed my weight loss a little bit, but the bars were part of what kept me compliant. I never got hungry, never felt the need to cheat, never had a craving. I do think the bars helped make it possible for me to stick to the program for so long, because I had something to look forward to every afternoon.

i don't trust the bars.

one of them slept with my woman, stole my car, and ruined my credit.

You quack me up!

And regarding da bars... I've used them pretty much daily. On the days I don't exercise I don't use them. It seems to me that the longer I stayed on Medifast, the less the little extras like bars and Sugar Free Syrups and snacks affected my weight loss. Either that or I wasn't as concerned about every little tenth of a pound that wobbled on and off over the course of a week, so as long as the week showed a loss, I was happy. Like Jo said, those little treats have helped me to stay on program.

Hope this helps. Keep Shaking and belly up to the bars... (if it helps you to stay compliant.)

Thanks for your input. I do look forward to the bar a day. However, I had some trouble being compliant yesterday. I was totally stressed and I ate more than one bar.

I think I liked the bars too much. :table:

I had to have my husband lock my bars up. They became a trigger food. One morning I had TWO and then a bowl of raisin bran! Another time I woke up in the middle of the night BEGGING for one..Since then, I have had one for lunch when I wasn't really hungry and things worked out okay. I have not reordered any.

I personally don't do the bars and just stick with the shakes and the L&G meal BUT I don't really like the bars either (I did like the Smores one...but that was about it). I DO keep the bars here at the house though so that if I am going to be out and about and need something then I that instead of going over time to eat again OR being tempted to eat something OFF course. I usually keep on in my purse and in the van at all times for those reasons.

But again, I am not really a bar fan so it isn't as big of a temptation to me and I love the shakes so it works out perfect for me.

Good luck!

I enjoy the bars and have my one a day. But I am taking in what others are saying as well.I may go adjust my eating them when I begin to exercise next week and do what Mellowmom does: eat them the days I exercise. And just have two shakes the days I dont instead. May work a little better.

No. NO more bars for me for a long time. For me it's the same as drinking a six pack of non-alcoholic beer. Some can, I am just not there yet...
