one week down, and now I'm confused

Postby saraak » January 11th, 2006, 9:01 pm

Hey Guys,

Need some advice or just uplifting comments with similar experiences. Been on medifast one week now and am down 5.5 lbs. I'm happy about this but one problem. I did shakes only and a lean and green for the first 4 days and lost 5 lbs. Over the next 3 days when I added other medifast supplements, I only lost 1/2 lb. Does this mean my body responds to the shakes more? Should I do shakes and the lean and green only? I thought that we could use all medifast supplements interchangeably with no difference. Is it normal for weight loss to slow down this much this quick? Other experiences would be great to hear. Let me know your opinions. Thanks in advance guys.

Hi Sara,
You are doing really great. :D A 5 1/2 pound first week lost is wonderful. All the medifast meal replacements work equally as well. The only one that needs to be limited to one per day is the bar. It has a few extra calories.
I know you've read this before but weight loss in not linear. That means sometimes we lose more sometimes we lose a little less. It's just up to our own body. If you follow the program exactly and drink all your water there is no way you can fail.
Keep going -- you are doing great.

Saraak,

It is normal to lose a lot of weight the first couple days, it is that old "water weight" that people talk about. It is a nice boost to keep you motivated but the truth is most people wont lose a pound or more a day on any diet or health plan. The slower weight lose is perfectly normal. You might do yourself more a favor by not weighing yourself everyday. Weigh just once a week so you can see a more acurate reflection of your weight loss. Your weight can fluctuate so much one day to the next depending on how much water you drink, if you get too much sodium, even if you don't sleep enough. Don't stress about the differance becuase you tried a few new products. Keep trying the products you want and just focus on weighing once a week and give your body time to adjust to all the new things you are introducing before giving up on one or the other.

just my two cents...

my experiance is your body doesnt lose at a steady pace. the body may hold onto weight then lose a couple ponds in one day. That it why I try to only weigh myself once a week. this week I did more but definitely dont get discouraged Ron

I weigh every day (OK, many times a day) because what if I only weigh once a week and that day happens to be the day I'm retaining water and up 3 pounds? But I record my weight once a week (whatever the lowest was for that week).

As for the sudden slowdown, that's completely normal. Even now, I tend to lose the first couple of days in the week, and then maintain for a few days. It has nothing to do with which supplements you used, most likely.
