Oatmeal?

Postby pinkgeek » March 23rd, 2004, 1:19 pm

Can we rev up the oatmeal the same way medifasters rev up the shakes (with the syrups or a Splenda packets)? I ordered the starter pack and I have tried everything except the Minestrone soup and so far the oatmeal (Vanilla Berry or some such) is the only thing that doesn't taste so great. Also, dunno if I'm having some sort of reaction to the French Vanilla shakes, but I wasn't feeling so good after I drank one of them before. I'm going to try another one tonight and see how it goes. Has anyone tried the Peppermint Paddy or Caramel syrups? As always, your advice and feedback is appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Angela,
You'd be ok with some splenda or sf syrup in the oatmeal. I get the maple oatmeal and do like to add a bit of equal to it.

I never have liked vanilla stuff, so naturally I don't care much for the vanilla shakes, dress em up as best you can and consider sticking with the chocolate after that.

If you haven't tried adding any of the Da Vinci sugarless syrups to the oatmeal yet, I highly recommend the berry syrups (raspberry, blueberry, strawberry, etc.) added to the vanilla berry oatmeal.
Very yummy. :eat: Probably would be good added to the other oatmeal flavors too.

To respond to the curiosity in the first post of this thread, I purchased
the Da Vinci Gourmet Sugarless  Caramel  Syrup about a month ago, and it is one of my very coveted favorites!

Who says oatmeal isn't for dinner? ;)

Oh, yeah!

Love that oatmeal all the time - in fact, I'm havin' some right now - Maple & Brown Sugar with a tad bit of Maple flavoring! Ye-ow-ser!! :bib:

Good idea about adding Blueberry Da Vinci syrup to the French Vanilla Berry - Yum! I really like it just the way it is but Terry adds a packet or two of Splenda to his.

If you like your oatmeal with milk and sugar, use the dulce de leche sugar free syrup with your oats.....just like the Eagle Brand Condensed Milk ;)!! Jules

Go for the oatmeal cookie recipe. I usually have 'em twice a day.

As for syrups, a lot of people seem to like the caramel, but I found it cloyingly sweet. I like the toasted marshmallow and the banana the best. (A lot of folks also rave about the peanut butter, but it doesn't taste at ALL like peanut butter to me.)

I add a little splenda to my oatmeal. Da Vinci butterscotch is the best flavor I've found yet - much better than the caramel IMHO. Tastes great with the vanilla shake!

I just ordered my first box of Vanilla Berry Oatmeal and was kinda worried it would have the same runy texture as the Maple Brown Surgar kind?????????

I love, Love, LOVE the Apple Cinnamon with extra cinnamon and some splenda - YUM-O...one day I splashed some non-fat creamer in for a change.

Walden Farms has some syrups and jam/jellies that are SF/FF and NO CALORIES -- has anyone tried those??????

Whew!

one day I splashed some non-fat creamer in for a change.

I'm glad it was only ONE day that ya did that - even though it is non-fat, it most likely has some carbs...adding extra carbs here and there can mess with the program. Eating croutons and cheese on the top of a salad, a few oyster crackers here, a blob of sour cream there can soon add up to just a few more than what we need to stay within the fine line of ketosis... be vewy cawefull, Gweski...love your Garfield avatar!

If the oatmeal is too runny for you, use less water. Try 6 ounces of water. I like it runny - I can drink my oatmeal while I am showering or getting Cute in the morning!
