Oatmeal

Postby electra000 » March 20th, 2006, 9:23 am

Hello, today is my first day on Medifast. I made the Maple Brown Sugar Oatmeal for breakfast. It was terrible. I could not eat it. I was wondering what I did wrong and if anyone had any suggestions on how to make the oatmeal?

I used 3/4 cup cold water and nuked it for 2 minutes.

I think there's an entire thread somewhere on oatmeal. Oatmeal is one of my favorite thinds, but even I can't stand it from the microwave. Here's how I make mine...

I boil water in a teapot and pour it over the oatmeal mix a little at a time until I get the right consistency. Sometimes I'll add a packet of Splenda, or a dash of vanilla flavoring and some Molly McButter or ButterBuds (or similar product).

Other people get more creative by adding DaVinci flavored syrups or things like pumpkin pie spice.

Hope this helps.

I make mine in the microwave and I love it, but I never liked oatmeal before, so maybe that's the difference. :)

I add two packets of Splenda, a teaspoon of cinnamon and 4 ounces of water, and nuke it for a minute and a half, then stir, stir, stir. I tried making it ahead and nuking it later, as someone (maybe Nancy?) suggested, but I didn't like it at all that way.

For the apple-cinnamon, I do about the same thing but I add a splash of DaVinci sugar-free caramel syrup.

Today is also my first day and I had the peach oatmeal for breakfast. I put 3/4 c water in it and microwaved it per the directions on the box, the least time (1 min I think?) It came out pretty thick, I had to add a bit more water and stir it up but it tasted good to me! I didn't add anything to it, not even splenda.

I make mine like DogMa's with only one Splenda packet, but I also add a couple shakes of nutmeg. Yummy! I too hated it the first day.

I absolutely love the oatmeal....all flavors. Here's how I prepare it every morning:

6 oz. Water in a 4 cup microwaveable bowl, pour in oatmeal packet and stir. Nuke on high for 2 minutes. Stir in two packets of Splenda and 1 tsp of Cinnamon. Let sit to thicken while I take my morning shower. Eat. Yummy!!!

I second the apple cinnamon, I don't add ANYTHING to it. 5oz h20, nuked 1 1/2 mins, let it sit...I haven't tried the peach yet, I hope it's good!
