How about a splenda, or Cinnamon, nutmeg or what about an extract. Like vanilla. Just to give you a heads up. I did not like the oatmeal but about 2 weeks after I started My taste buds changed. And now I love it (maple)

Hi! I can relate as I think I OD'sd on oatmeal at one point, having no other options at the time. I find sometimes that it can be bitter. So I try to put a little more water in than normal so it's not lumpy (this seems to take away the bitterness by dissolving all the lumps.) I also add a packet of no calorie sweetener and the milk allotment for the day (isnt it like 1 T skim per day?) Also, a shake of cinnamon or a dash of vanilla helps!

Good luck!

I hated it at first when I cooked it the full two and a half minutes on high. It developed an ugly skim on top, shudder! Now, I cook it 30 seconds, stir, cook another 30 seconds, and repeat until it is the consistency I like. I also reduce the power to 70%. Looks and tastes more like real oatmeal. Oh yeah, sometimes I add imitation butter flavoring and splenda.

I have apple cinnamon oatmeal almost every day,
sometimes more than once. I love, love, love it! I use one drop
of liquid splenda, a little bit of saigon cinnamon, and one (partial)
squirt of davinci sf caramel syrup. SO GOOD. Yum.

I LOVE the oatmeal. I've posted a few fix ups around the forum. As oatmeal, I add SF Torani/DaVinci syrups with a sprinkle of cinnamon on the Apple Cinn and Maple-Brn Sugar. SF Toffee in the Blueberry. I detest the Peach, so I don't do it.
I also follow the recipe on the box for the cookies to actually make Pancakes and then a couple sprays of ICBINB with 1/4 C SF Maple Syrup... voila.... pancakes.
If you reduce the water to 1/4 C in the cookie recipe, you actually can make cookies or mini-muffins (ala TonyR). With the cookies, you can ziplock them and they keep for a couple of days.

The first few days on program, I tasted a chalky flavor in the oatmeals, but I don't notice (or taste) it any longer. I cook it for 1 1/2 minutes and on occasion will add a TBS of SF caramel flavoring. I like the oatmeal...maybe you'll find that your tastes will change and you'll begin enjoying it, too.
