Oatmeal pancake anyone?

Postby mylasthope » April 27th, 2005, 8:40 am

This morning I decided to make an oatmeal pancake.

I mixed it up according to the oatmeal cookie recipe and then smushed it into a pancake shape in the pan and fried it in Pam. Topped it with a little sugar free maple syrup and ta-da!!!

I thought it was really good and just something different to do with the oatmeal.

Just thought I'd share my idea.

Oooooh, I can't wait to try that. I love pancakes. :flip: (except I like mine with PB, yet another reason I am overweight  ) Donna (doglover) don't get any ideas. NO PB! :whip:

My mouth is so watering right now. I wish I would have read this later today when I could actually make them.

OH NO! OH NO! OH NO! I just remembered I am out of oatmeal. AAAAAARGGGH! :x

Hi DonicaB!
Too bad you are out of oatmeal!!! But, when you get some you could add a dash of DaVinci or Artisan Coffee Roasters Sugar Free Peanut Butter syrup! Maybe that will help your hankerin!

I can't wait to try this. I was just thinking the other day that the DaVinci SF Caramel syrup smells just like maple syrup. My big experiment with the oatmeal was to try and make muffins out of it. I got the taste I wanted but even after baking them for a long time they are always still runny in the middle. I even tried smashing up a package of crackers and adding that to it. Has anyone else tried to make muffins with their oatmeal and if so share your recipe please!

Pancakes are an *awesome* idea!!! Dean and Tami, this might make a great crepe to wrap some fresh strawberries in for transition/maintenance... who's gonna volunteer to be the guinea pig...?

I am soooooo sorry Donna. I knew that was gonna make you drool. Do I need to send over a bib? :bib:

I guess we will just have to take Mylasthope's advice and use PB SF syrup to quench our PB thirst.

Man, oh man I can't wait to get my hands on one of those pancakes with PB syrup.

I can't wait........................I want it now............ .........How old am I?...............3?...................OK, calm down, take a deep breath, .........whew, that was a close one. I almost went postal like Rae with the Krispy Kremes. :shoot:

I suppose I should be thankful that I don't have a peanut butter addiction.........it looks like it is a hard one to handle. Courage ladies!

Rae, that crepe and strawberry thing sounds interesting..........I may try it with a minor change. I will wrap the oatmeal crepe inside a pepperoni pizza.........this is MY peanut butter..........pizza. Luckily for me, there is not a jar of Pepperoni Pizzas in my pantry. I had a couple of frozen pizzas in the freezer when I started Medifast, but wisely threw them out. If I hadn't done that, I just KNOW I probably would have gotten weak and baked one.

mylasthope..........thanks for sharing your idea about the oatmeal pancakes. We need new things to try that are within the guidelines of the plan. The more the variety of things we can eat, the less tempted we will be.

After running around the tri-state going to 5 tjmaxx's  I finally gave up and went to the davinci website and ordered the peanut butter, english toffee and cookie dough sugar free syrups.

They also have pancake flavor! I didn't get it, but since we are talking about pancakes I thought I'd mention it.

HAAAAAAA! I knew if I dug through my pantry enough I could probably find a package of oatmeal and I did...... Sometimes when I only have one package left in a box I put it in a container with other loners. I searched and searched and finally found an apple cinnamon one.

I made the pancake YIPEE! :bounce: What a treat..........I loved it..........I think I will really like the maple & brown sugar one even better.

Thank you so much for sharing this, my morning has been wonderous, all because of a pancake. :flip:

Donica - so glad you enjoyed your pancake! :flip: And it's so much faster than baking them as cookies.

B - There is a recipe for oatmeal cookies under this topic on the forum, but real quickly, this is all I do:

Add a smidge cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, baking powder, and baking soda to the oatmeal - mix together.
Add about 1/3 c water and a little sugar free maple syrup - stir. Let sit a few minutes to thicken up.
Pour into a pan coated with Pam and smoosh into the shape of a pancake.
Top with a little more maple syrup . . . enjoy! :bib:

DANG...I keep forgetting to add cinnamon to my oatmeal! There are plenty of days that I don't think I have a brain in my head.

And...on another thread (hidden deep in this forum somewhere!) someone metioned the Magic Bullet. I am an ebay maniac today trying to get one! I am hoping to win one soon as I cannot find it in any store by me :|

Donna,

I don't know if you have any Kohl's stores around you, but ours always has the Magic Bullet. I think it's usually around $59.99.
