NSVs for me and Joelie!

Postby bdg » February 6th, 2007, 7:47 pm

We visited some old friends we hadn't seen in about 4-5 months, and when they first saw us (they already knew we were losing) they called us skinny &$^%s. Yes the term was vulgar, but their intention was positive.

Later that evening we saw a few more friends we hadn't seen in 4-5 months and were called hotties by one person and another said they couldn't look at us because we aren't the people they remember. It again was a positive, but an odd reaction I hadn't heard before.

Kinda neat shocking people every so often.

That is an interesting reaction. Armchair psychologist time - was this person at a healthy weight themselves? I know that in my world there were always some people I could count on to be bigger than me no matter what, therefore making me feel safer and like I wasn't in that bad shape. One of them was my father - and it really shook me up when he lost weight and actually weighed the same as me. Maybe that's part of the reason why I came back to try MF again, I don't know. Ignore me if I'm way off, but it's just what I thought of when I read your post.

Congratulations on the comments! You both deserve lots of respect and awe from others.

Oh yeah. She needs not lose weight. It is just a sudden change for her because she hasn't seen me in months and in about 50 or more lbs. I took it as a strange, but ok compliment.
