Non Scale Victories

Postby bzlife1967 » April 23rd, 2006, 3:52 pm

I thought I would start a thread on all of our non scale victories, so when we need a lift we can look at it and remember the scale is not the only reason we are doing this. So I will start with my NSV's. More to come Im sure!!

* I had to move the seat in my car up... no my legs weren't getting shorter my butt was getting smaller and I was sitting further back in the seat.

* My belly doesn't touch the steering wheel.

* I can now wear shorts without them crawling up my inner thighs.. yay my legs don't rub together.

* I can touch my toes with my legs straight!

* I can walk up 2 flight of stairs without sweating or breathing like I have been under water for a day!

Ok YOUR TURN..........
Friends are angels that lift us to our feet when our wings have trouble remembering how to fly!

I wore a pair of shorts yesterday that I hadn't worn in 2 years. I didn't even have to lay on the bed to zip them up.

My kids say my "pillows" aren't as squishy as they used to be.

I saw "Hairspray" the other day with friends and after a song about large-size women, I commented on how much I wanted to be up there singing right along with them. And my friends looked at me like I was crazy for being able to identify with them.

Here's some of the lyrics:

Once upon a time
Girl i was just like you
Never let my extra large
Largesse shine through

Hair was brown and nappy
Never had no fun
I hid under a bushel
Which is easier said than done!

Then one day my grandma
Who was big and stout
She said you gotta love yourself
From inside out

And just as soon as i learned
How to strut my funky stuff
I found out that the world at large
Cant get enough so...

Bring on that pecan pie
Pour some sugar on it
Sugar don't be shy

Scoop me up a mess
Of that chocolate swirl
Don't be stingy,
I'm a growing girl

1 offer big love
With no apology
How can i deny the world
The most of me

I am not afraid
To throw my weight around
Pound by pound by pound
Because i'm
Big, blonde and beautiful
There is nothin' 'bout me
That's unsuitable

No one wants a meal
That only offers the least
When girl we're servin' up
The whole damn feast

Slice off a piece
Of that hog head cheese
Then take a look inside
My book of recipes

Now, don't you sniff around
For something fluffy and light
I need a man who brings
A man-size... Appetite

I'll use a pinch of sugar
And a dash of spice
I'll let ya lick the spoon
Because it tastes so nice

I'll keep it in my oven
'Til it's good and hot
Keep on stirring til it hits the spot
Because i'm...

Big, blonde and beautiful
And Edna girl, you're lookin' so
Recruitable
Why sit in the bleachers
Timid and afraid
When Edna,
You can be your own parade!

Non scale Victories!

I went to a nice restaurant for dinner and didn't eat bread - NOR did I want it, all I could think of is what I went thru to get this 14 lbs off and I don't wnat to start all over again.

I was wearing a size 20 pants (all my weight is in my mid section) and I was pushing a size 22. I put on a pair of 'smaller' sized 20's and BAM, the fit perfecting with room to spare!

........stay tuned for more :-P
Start Date: September 17, 2006!!!!

Well, at the risk of repeating myself...

Bought my first pair of misses pants (18's) early this month and had to get them taken up the next week. Now they need to be taken in again!

The clothes I was wearing two years ago, at the same weight I am now, are so big they are falling off.

I have less "insulation" so I am not having to keep the a/c running all the time...which makes my hubby and daughters happy!

I actually bought a fitted shirt that is hip length instead of the usual big baggy tunic. And I'm not constantly tugging it down in a futile attempt to cover my tummy and rear!

Some friends I hadn't seen in a few weeks greeted me by saying "Hello there Miss Baggy Britches....you're looking great!!"

My hubby loves to hug me and tell me how good I'm looking...and how much smaller my butt is. ;) . That is, by far, the very best non-scale victory!!!

There are so many non-scale victories for all of us. A few of mine have been:

* Being able to sit in a booth at a resturant.
* As previously mentioned, moving the driver's seat up because my butt and waist have shrunk.
* I went backpacking and hiked 20 miles over 2 days and FELT GREAT ! Still very tired but not in agony and not running out of breath on every incline.
* The purging of clothes because my body has thinned down faster than the weight loss would indicate. I can now put on those 36" jeans and zip them up. Their still tight but they fit !!!
* The most important has been the impact on my self-esteem and how that has affected virtually all my relationships, be they personal or professional. The change has been simply amazing.

There are so many but those are a few that I hope helps everyone.

Congrats to all of us losers! I was just thinking about my NSV's this morning!

I can see my chin.

When I sleep on my side my legs don't go numb anymore.

A can put on the seatbelt in my husband's car without an extender.

I don't know how much I've exactly lost, I can record 10 pounds, but it's that first all important week I missed with no scale.

OMGosh, I have so many NSV's... This program is amazing, not only am I losing weight and inches, but it has changed something inside me...how my brain works and sees food now.

I go to clothing stores now, just to try things on and don't buy anything and am not depressed afterwards. LOL!

It's official that everything that I own aside from a couple pairs of pants from 15 yrs ago are too big for me. :) I pulled out clothes that I had bought too small when I was on my last diet that were a little snug, but I figured, I'd get there eventually...They still have tags on. They're too big.

I can wear my expensive $150+ boots that I just had to have that I couldn't zip up....I can now zip them up. :)

I bought a size 12 denim jacket the other day and it fit perfectly and it was on clearance....$42 OFF. I got it for $17.

I'm setting a good example for my kids... that is worth more to me than anything else.

Food is not what I turn to when I'm happy, sad, mad, or celebrating.

My stomach isn't getting in the way when I do yoga.

Dh and I fit better together....before if I hugged him our bellies touched and we were really far apart and I always felt like my arms were too short and I couldn't comfortably rest my head on his shoulder because I couldn't really reach it because our bellies were in the way. Now we don't bump bellies. :)

I've come out of the land of the invisible....at 227 lbs I was pretty much invisible...to everyone.

Before I write a book, I'll stop here. :)

In only 10lbs, I've gone from my size 20W jeans being like sausage casings to my size 18 (no W!) being just a tad snug! I actually got them zipped & ran a few errands in them today - I haven't been able button, let alone ZIP them since I quit smoking in December!

I almost fit into my small snug jeans from 15 years ago (they say size 20k but after measuring, it's considered a 14 today!)

I fit into large regular panties from the regular size departments!

My confidence is starting to go up.

My parents finally realizing that this crazy plan of mine is working.

I have had the energy to walk 5-6 days a week fot the past two weeks.

Hubby is supportive and on board walking with me each night and helping me with just having lean and green for dinner each night instead of a large "meat and potatoes" type meal from the past.

I feel at peace.
