My day is ending. I was just thinking that I would go upstairs and read my diet book and I realized I'd much rather read my just-for-fun book - so I'm doing that instead. I'm trying to decide if I want to do the shower at night thing again - I did feel so good last night. And I shaved (anybody relate to not shaving most of the winter because no one sees your legs anyway? I may have to shave more when I'm thin because I might actually start wearing skirts and tights/stockings again. Actually I'm lucky and have very light fine hair so I could go a month without shaving and you wouldn't know. Or so my husband says. I still shave before exposing my legs in the slightest in public.) (wow, really long parenthetical break there - anybody remember what the beginning of this sentence was? Bonus points for you!) and that always feels like a luxury to me to take that kind of time. I even plucked my eyebrows back into shape this morning for the photo. The picture by the way was very anticlimactic. You would have thought I expected to be turning cartwheels or something in front of the staff. Nope, I was just standing in the 2nd row looking normal. But I know I felt better for being dressed nicely. They took the picture outside though and it was so bright I couldn't open my eyes all the way - so I'm sure it will turn out just gorgeous.

I did have some comments on my clothes from both adults and kids - nice comments. And the woman I mentioned who had GBS in the fall said I looked really good today and she knew I must be doing something and losing weight. I told her it was almost 45lbs (I know, I rounded up a bit) and she said that was great and it shows. And my principal said something today again. And cute story - one of the TAs saw me coming down the hall and started singing 'Lady in Red.' She's a friend of the family so it's not as weird as it sounds.

Well if I keep babbling on like this I'll have no time for my shower or my reading or anything. Maybe I'll just shower in the morning. It did feel great, but I kind of want to just take out my contacts and relax and fall asleep with my book. Nice to have it as an option, though. I am such a creature of habit that changing things up like that is a big deal in my world. It felt like I was indulging myself in a non-food way - another one to add to my list!

I hope you're tucked in bed, enjoying your just-for-fun book :D

We just had our photos done at my school last Thursday. I generally hang out in back and hope I'll just sort of melt into the trees, but this time the photographer insisted I sit right up front and centre...It was the no good, very bad day and I remember sitting there wondering if there was any way I could call a sub at lunch and go home and cry for the rest of the day...I can't wait to see how this picture turns out

You know what's cool? This will be the last year that weight will be an issue on picture day. From here on, we only have to fret about our clothes and hairstyles--which are going to look weird down the road no matter how tasteful we try to be. That's just how it works with that stuff

I do this not out of laziness, but for practical reasons. It holds my knee socks up.

I shaved before we went on the Cruise in February. I figured if I didn't I would get to the Caribbean and one of the ladies on shore would try to braid the hair and put beads in it.!!

I always shave my legs because I get pedicures and you know how the nail technicians always speak Vietnamese to each other while they are working? I would be afraid they would be saying "Can you believe this Sasquatch, coming in here with hairy legs and I have to massage them!"

That IS very funny Biki  however ... if you get your pedicure done in one of those massage/spa chairs it is a health risk to shave beforehand. People have gotten horrible skin infections that cause disfiguring scars when they've had an open wound or have shaved prior to their peticure. If your salon uses the portable foot baths you are reasonably safe because those can be sanitized.

I just thought I would mention that for the sake of others on this board who might think it was okay.

Nickie ... sorry for the hijack of your journal.

No prob ;) I am fortunate to have a wonderful manicurist who is extremely health conscious about her practice. She left the "sweatshop salon" she was in for that very reason. She is Vietnamese and speaks very good English, btw. 8)
