Great NSV Nickieluv! That's fantastic. I know what you mean about putting a time period to when we weighed what. It's like I woke up and said "how did I get to 265? I was at 180 last time I paid attention." Then I remember things from certain eras as I can fit into them again and it puts things into a great perspective!

Here's to the TEEEEEENNS!!!!

May I suggest, Nickie, that you save something that you wore at your largest size? I still get the urge every once in awhile to put on those size 24 denim capris that I wore constantly because they were the only thing that fit at the time. It's a great feeling to see the visual.....I could fit 2 of me in those pants!

Thanks for mentioning saving something, Jo. I've already gotten rid of everything that was so stretchy I could still wear it even 9 months pregnant - those had to go. But actually the jeans I'm wearing today are the same jeans I wore in my 'before' pictures. I know, almost 45 pounds later and I'm still wearing them. I had to squish into them before, but I had to squish into everything back then because I wouldn't go up to 26W when I needed to. So these are 24W and I am just about ready to retire them - they're not flattering but I'm hesitant to buy yet another pair that I'll have to give away in a couple of months. I guess I should go get some cheapies because really, even my 22W pair are too big. Considering that all the other pants I'm wearing are 18 that's pretty sad I guess.

Anyway, long story short, I'll pack up these 24s when I'm done with them and keep them around for my cliche shot. :-)

I found myself at my top weight wondering how on earth I had let it go for so long. Now I see that it all came from somewhere - and I'm only 20 pounds away from what I weighed in I believe 2001. So if I think back, it seems like I gained about ten pounds a year. And I can see how that could sneak up on you. Which just makes it even more important that I remember to be like all those other successful maintainers and jump on those pesky 2 or 3 pounds before it becomes much, much more.

Amen to THAT, sister!! I think I gained at about the same pace as you on the average but I gained a little more the year I quit smoking and the year I was on anti-depressants. But overall it was easily a 10-13 yr weight gain. I'm so happy that with MF it won't take that long to take it off!! But you are right --- maintenance will mean jumping on things with a minimum of weight gain! Have a great day!

I have 9 whole boxes of my fat clothes. Clothes that have become too big since I started MF'ing. (yes, I love to shop.) That's not counting all the in between stuff I donated to the homeless pre-MF. A lot of it is business wear that I could easily sell on Ebay. Next time I need a project, I am going to put some of the summer/spring things on to sell. I put one pair of bermuda shorts on and they sold in a few days. I do plan to save a pair of size 26 pants-that was my highest size.

What an excellent suggestion!!! I haven't even considered keeping something from my highest weight, but I think I will before I give them all away.

Donica

Do you have friends you are giving the clothes to or are you donating them? Frankly, I don't know anyone who is as fat as I was. As I have mentioned, I don't have many friends, except on this board.

I wish I'd kept mine, but I was so glad to be rid of them.

Biki, I donated all my stuff from my biggest size. When I got smaller, I started giving some of it to my cousin and a friend who were bigger than I was. But later my too-big clothes were too small for them, so I started donating again.

I was too afraid that having bigger clothes would make it too easy to gain weight. Right now, if my clothes start getting tight, I have nothing else to wear.

I saved a blouse I wore all the time (it was pretty much the only nice thing that fit) and a pair of pants, that are huge now....looked huge always, but they fit at my largest (222). 222, that is 102# heavier than I weighed after my second child... How did I ever let that happen and why in the world did I do that to myself (gain weight, not have children ;) :lol).

By all means, keep something if you still have it.....

I've just decided to donate them. It's hard for me to find people who were both my size and my height. Most of my clothes are petite in length. My legs are a little on the stubby side. :D

Also, most of my clothes were not that attractive. I guess I felt I didn't deserve nice things because I was fat. I thought no one would notice me anyway. (Man, I was hard on myself.) I have definitely been looking at prettier things lately. Even dresses........especially since you posted that beautiful dress in your journal. ;)

Hi

Postby dede4wd » May 4th, 2007, 1:39 pm

I agree Nickie!

Since I started, I've saved a pair of my biggest jeans and the biggest shirt. Every once in a while when I feel things aren't moving fast enough, I put them on and say, "Wow, look where I've been!"

I also agree with Robin...I don't keep other clothes around in multiple sizes. When I gained weight on the cruise, I literally had 3 things to wear and it motivated to get back on it...FAST!

I donated all of my big clothes and made a ritual to do it as I moved down each size. I really enjoyed it and it was really fulfilling, like saying goodbye to each phase in my life!

That's what I've been doing ... when I cleaned out my closet I donated 6 huge boxes of clothing to our St. Vincent De Paul Society Thrift Store and another 6 to Hope House for Abused Children Thrift Store. It was truly a ritual giving and an expression of farewell at the same time! :D

I regret that I didn't save some of my biggest clothes...I was just so happy to get them out of my closet!
Come to think of it, I believe I do have a big red night shirt that would fill the bill.
Today at a Home Show we attended, a man in one booth was giving away free Tee shirts if we would register, so I did.
He asked if I take a small? Out of habit I took a medium instead, and it was huge!
Well, I can always use it for a night shirt!
I wonder if I'll ever get used to it...

Nickie,
They are even better when you make them with a packet of the eggs (though 2 packets of oatmeal and 1 egg packet is better than 1 egg 1 oatmeal). They make nice pancakes, and you can cook them on the griddle just like pancakes.
