newbie Questions

Postby jene115 » February 5th, 2005, 3:03 pm

I made my first order without knowing there were banana shakes (so sad) I have strawberry, chocolate and orange (I'm not a vanilla person, but I may order some to doctor). I bought some sugar free Da Vinci vanilla syrup today. It's the only other sugar free one I could find other than hazelnut, which I don't like. I'm assuming we can only have the sugar free, is that correct? My grocery store didn't have a big selection of any of the Da Vinci, but I may try a tiny bit more upscale store here in Houston that will probably have more.

What flavor combinations can you suggest with the chocolate. I really wanted to find some strawberry syrup because I love strawberry. The orange can probably stand on its own since I love orange too. I bought some Crystal Lite bottles of Raspberry Ice and Lemonade and some Crystal Lite On the Go and Orange Sunrise. The orange sunrise will probably work in the chocolate or orange.

Can you guys give me some ideas for shakes? My first shake of the day will be in a blender, but at work a shaker will have to suffice. I think we may have a blender at work, but I'm not sure I will have the time to mix it and clean out the blender.

Ideas welcome!

Jen - look in past postings in the Lean Cuisine section. There are tons of threads that give ideas on creating delish variations of MF shakes.

Also - you can buy the Da Vinci syrups on-line. I just went to google and did a search on the name.

Hope this helps --

My first order was

Postby NE gal in South » February 7th, 2005, 9:12 am

8 Orange 55 Shakes
8 Strawberry 55 Shakes
and 8 Chocolate 55 Shakes

I knew nothing about adding anything to them to change the taste and just shook them and sipped through a straw.

I was not particulary fond of the Strawberry until I mixed it with Strawberry Fruit H20 Water - and some ice in the blender - that made it taste almost like a Strawberry milk shake. Yum

I have since discovered bars, soup, chili & oatmeal.

I am down 126 lbs. I have DECIDED to do it. You can too.

What to put with chocolate

Postby Joan Roman » February 7th, 2005, 12:00 pm

It may not sound that exciting  ...however I blend my chocolate or mocha MF with A & W diet cream soda, ice, and one sweet n low packet. I really like the way it tastes... and it's funny because I don't care for the cream soda on it's own. I have heard some like to add a bit of mint extract to chocolate as well. I'm sure you will have fun exploring and finding your own favorites...which I hope you will share with us! :D

Have fun shakin!

Hi Jen,

World market carries Davinci and Torani sf syrups.

As for me, I tried all of the flavors but at the end of the day, the only ones I really liked were the dutch chocolate. I bought a Magic Bullet and made them nice and thick with water and ice.

This is not strictly a mixing suggestion, but I love it for the DC shakes anyway. I got this from another post over in the Lean Cuisine forum -- you might look there for lots of good ideas.

I put four or five ounces of water with the DC shake, shake well, and stick it on ice for awhile. A couple of hours is best, to allow time for the whole thing to freeze. I eat it with a spoon, and it's a frozen treat that to me tastes just like a fudgsicle.

As many others have said Jen, check out the lean cusuine thread. Also, there is a little recipe book that you can order, I think it was $2 or so.
I've mixed several flavors of koolaid, as well as sugar free tang, and crystal light with my shakes and they are yummy. I bought several DaVinci syrups online, peanut butter is great in the banana shake (when you get some). But honestly, the koolaid, tang, etc., add just as much if not more flavor and is a lot cheaper.

I think my new favorite is adding some Raspberry Lemonade Crystal Light to either the vanilla or the strawberry shakes. (I just love anything lemon flavored anyway).
