Hello everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm starting my 50# weightloss journey today. This support forum looks great and seems so active! It's hard to believe it's the only one out there that looks and feels as nice as it does. I look forward to your support!

I grew up in Dallas going to Richardson schools. I now live in Allen with my husband and two young daughters.

Thanks for everyone's warm welcomes!

chili soup problem

Postby just_julie » March 5th, 2006, 4:16 pm

So how often do you not receive the right amount of food in your packets? I ate a very miniscule amount of chili water yesterday. Not a good thing to have happen on your first day! :? I'm glad I gave it a second chance because today's was a much more reasonable amount, and it was thick like the picture. :eat:

Has this happened to you?

I have found that with the chili if you use 6oz water and some chili powder and any other spices you like (make sure the spices don't have sugar though) and if you can simmer it on the stove for about 15min it always gets good and thick

I let mine soak with 6 ounces of water and some extra spices (cumin and some Better Than Bouillon chili base, usually) at least overnight, then microwave. Comes out perfect every time. You can also try adding some salsa.

With a lot of that stuff, you need to play with the amounts and spices a little. And definitely mix it up and let it sit first (same with the chicken noodle and chicken rice).

Thanks, BUT....

Postby just_julie » March 6th, 2006, 8:28 am

I appreciate the chili help. I have also looked over all the other recipe ideas. BUT...

I'm SERIOUS about not receiving the right amount. The difference in the 2 days was astounding! Has this not happened to anyone? I hope that it was only a fluke as quantity control is so important on a plan like this. I'm sure I only got HALF the amount I was supposed to on my first day chili... Oh well...

Hi Julie,
That's very strange and I've never heard of anyone ever being shorted on their meals. Medifast is VERY strict on packaging their products, but that doesn't mean that somthing couldn't have happened.

If you can check the rest of your meals by squeezing the package before you open them, maybe you can feel if there's others that didn't get entirely filled.

A couple questions:
Did you get a "Starter Kit" or choose your own meals?
What date did you order?
Who did you order through? (Medifast, Take Shape for Life, Other?)

Medifast is very good at making things right with their clients. If you find any more short packages, send them back and they'll make it up for you.

Let us know if you find any more....

I ordered through Medifast online on 2/27/06. I picked my own meals, but I also received a free week for ordering a 4 week package. I didn't get to choose those meals. I will definitely give my packages a squeeze and hope that it was just a fluke.

BTW - This site is AWESOME, Unca_Tim! :clapclap:

Ahhh! I found another one! A chili packet from the same box with less than half the correct amount. Now I have to go through everything to make sure I was given the right amounts. Wish I didn't have to do that! I'd advise all newbies to go through their box when they get it and compare and squeeze each packet. I only checked to see that the right boxes were packed...
