Newbie Here - I luv this MF Site!

Postby JerseyGirl » November 28th, 2006, 7:58 am

Hello everybody. I started my MF journey on Oct. 13th, 2006. And I have slipped up 2x but this is the longest time I have ever stayed on any plan whether I was losing weight or not. I tend to think I've been afraid of becoming thin again. I never really liked the attention after I got married. But 10 years later I'm secure enough and trust that my husband is secure enough (not that he was'nt before) but I'm the one who was fighting my own self sabatoge. I've had three kid's and gained 40 lbs. To date I have lost 14 lbs. on MF. I think it would have been more but I did cheat on thanksgiving and 1 other time. So it took me 2 days to get back on track once that happened. I should be down at least 20 lbs. by now. I think I've always been able to lose weight quickly once I set my mind to it.

But the difference this time is I'm just really ready to be myself again. This body is not really me inside and everyday since I gained the weight I've been so unhappy. So, I really need to succeed and I really need you guys to cheer me on. Thanks to all of you for sharing your wonderful stories it has motivated me to stick with MF.

Welcome!! I am so glad you joined our forum. I totally relate to your feelings about being thin. I am the same way. However I have a great husband of 2 years who loves me just the way I am and that has given me the motivation to go forward. Stay with it and keep us posted. This is a great group!

Hi Jersey Girl!

I am a mom of three under three, so I understand how our identities get lost in baby fat. I have lost 10 lbs on MF, and 8 on my own before. Those 18 lbs have made me much more comfy, and I recognize myself agian! I still have 25 to go. Anyway, enough about me! Just wanted to wish you luck and perserverence during the MF ride.

Here's to looking at (the REAL) you, kid! Look forward to keeping up with ya.

My husband is feeling a little insecure right now. I am not exactly competing with Kate Moss for the waif look at 220 pounds but he said to me this morning "You'll get so thin you won't want me anymore!' It made me so sad. I told him I would want him more because he stood beside me through it all-the ups and downs, hospitals, Medifast bills, binges, boozing. And to come out on the other side with this steadfast man will mean so much.

Welcome JerseyGirl!

"I tend to think I've been afraid of becoming thin again."

I think it's safe to assume that you are not alone in thinking this!! I know I feel the same way - the layer of extra fat to shield us from the world...

So - like you said - get ready to be yourself again. It sounds like you are well on your way and I look forward to getting to know you better!

The only reason I am afraid of becoming thin again is that the whole mall will become my oyster. It is kind of nice for a compulsive shopper to be limited to the mostly tacky (Lane Bryant/Torrid) or overpriced (Saks/Bloomies) choices the younger larger sized woman has for lounging. It has made me stick to the occassional luxury piece and a bunch of staples like black tees and pullovers. I'll try to survive the winter in black cashmere.
