We'll slowly get you weened off AOL....

I was also an AOL’er for life. Signed on back when it was AOHe** 1.0 (1992) Funny, had a Ford Explorer at the time, thus the name “explorthis” Stuck with me for ever…. EVERYONE knew my name (like Cheers) thought I would never be able to let an old trusted friend die, impossible to make the switch. Finally about a year ago, we went high speed, and since I am buyer for a living, I was either going to remain a dial up’er (AOHe**) or give it up, and drive in the fast lane. Yikes, as tears welled up in my eyes… I slowly made the transition, sending and changing everything over to the new DSL ISP… Hmmm, it really was not that hard, and come to find out, AOL is really NOT that great. If you have never had high speed, picture a 67 Volkswagen, running on about 3 cylinders, and instantly jumping into a 05 ‘Vette! Just a hint of performance difference, not to mention; now the phone is free, so my teen can monopolize it 23.5 hours of the day!

Give it up, (AOHe**) it’s not worth it.

Funny, I still have AOL, every time I call to cancel it (9 months ago) they extend another 3 months of free service, though I only check the residual mail (9,990 pieces of spam) about once a month. I just called on 1/9 ‘cause my 3 months was set to expire, Oh Mike, common, keep us for another 3 months to REALLY make sure.

I am sure, but it’s free, so what the hey..

Dump it, it’s really a hamper to the REAL Internet!

I'm not doing dial-up; we have a DSL line, so my AOL is with bring-your-own-access. We used to have a dedicated phone line just for the computer, but when we hooked up to the DSL a little over a year ago we dropped that second line.

I might just be too lazy to do all the work necessary to switch everything that I'm registered at under my AOL name (amazon, paypal, any number of online quilt fabric shops, etc.). And the worst part might be transferring all of my "favorite places." I've acquired quite a stash of links. The kids keep pushing me to, though, even though they don't really use it anymore since we went to DSL.

I don't go quite as far back as you do, Mike; I think I came in at 4.0 sometime in the late nineties ('97? '98?).

Maybe sometime this year....

Hardest part was for my buddy list on AOL, because once you cancel your subscription, you lose that account/name/buddy list name. My daughter was in the same boat, but I kept telling her to tell her friends, and now neither of us even uses the old AOL IM feature. We created new “like” names on AIM, and it’s just as easy. I went through the PayPal, and eBay switch, as well as my “favorites”

Trust me, I know, it’s like cutting the noose on an old friend. I think AOL knows, once they hook you, it’s very hard to let go. I loathe the thought of the old $23.90/month (was originally $14.xx years ago, and you only got a certain amount of hours per month) X the months I was on X the years – yikes! Cha-Ching. No wonder they don’t want to lose me.

They keep offering me the B.Y.O. on the DSL line for I think $9.95, but I just don’t see the need (for me anyway)

Just a quick note to let you know I'll be working on the MMT Excel weight log today. I'll post the link here as soon as I get it updated.

The new journal is ready. It includes all of 2005.
You can find it here:
MMT 2005 Daily Journal
(version 1.2)

A smaller zipped version can be found here:
MMT 2005 Daily Journal (Zipped)
(for dialup users - must have winzip or similar program to unzip)

For new users, be sure to follow the setup directions on the "Help" page.

For existing users, rename or make a copy of your current copy (ex: My Daily Journal1), so you don't overwrite with the new version and lose all your current stats, then copy/paste your stats into the new version.

MMT 2006 Daily Journal

MMT 2007 Daily Journal

Let me know if you find any errors or have any problems...

The "Starting Stats" section still doesn't include a place for a beginning chest measurement, so the tool doesn't track inches lost from the chest area.

Other than that, I really like the journal, and while I don't use all of its available tools I do faithfully record weight and measurement. Thanks so much for it!

That's cause Unca does not want any women losing inches from their chest area.......hehe

Actually it's programmed to add an inch to the chest for every pound lost.
(not really....:))

What it does do is use a standard formula for inches lost. Not sure why they didn't include chest.
