Actually happened on 12/31..but I'd rather start the new year off with a new NSV so..
They opened a Chico's Outlet in Gilroy. I don't know if you have a Chico's near you but they have some really, really nice stuff in those stores. I never even bothered going in there because, well, let's just say I wasn't Chico's "target" audience.. i.e. not their "type" er.. "size"...er.. I was too darn fat for them!!!! Plus they are really expensive.
So when the outlet opened I figured I'd just check it out quickly and see what kind of discount's were available. Now, I'd never actually entered a Chicos before and found that they carry clothes in 3 Sizes... 1, 2 & 3. As near as I can figure it a 3= 14-16, 2=10-12, and 1=6-8.
The outlet store was pretty cool. Lots of discounts, and even discounts on discounts. It's been unseasonably cold here in the Bay Area and I saw this really nice looking wool tunic/sweater on the additional 60% OFF rack. Decided to try on a 3 (what was I thinking??) and it fit! Saints preserve us! I haven't been in a 14-16 in over 35 years! So I bought the sweater for $27.00 (marked down from $85.00) and took my "magical sized" sweater to the cashier.
The checkout women then proceeded to ask me a bunch of questions to set up an account for me and when it came to the size question, she didn't ask, she just put in "2"!! I could've kissed her, but instead corrected her that I wore a "3". She looked me up and down and then said...well not for long, you must be really close to a "2"!! (Hmmm.. do you think this is some kind of ploy Chico's associates pull so that the buying public purchases more clothing at their stores???---Almost worked on me )
So, with visions of "2's" dancing in my head I left Chico's vowing to come back soom and get my ego, if not my wallet stroked once again.
Ain't being a MFer Grand???
