PJ's new puppy

Postby PJinCali » October 19th, 2006, 7:56 pm

OK, so we tried with the big 6 month old Black Lab/Bull Terrier mix and he was WAYYY too aggressive for us (he nipped at me today) So my son found him a great home with one of his friends and we went back to the pound to get another puppy. I am sending the photos to UNCA. One photo is our 2 month old Shepard/boxer mix with the big black lab/bull terrier.

The other photo is the new baby (one month old) She is a labrador/springer spaniel mix (AKA - Labradinger)

She is a real cutie pie and the other 2 dogs are getting along great with her so far.

Just to warn you, PJ.......those cute little puppies turn into grown up dogs with hair that falls out, muddy paws, and they make piles of nasty stuff everywhere......oh yeah, they chew on furniture, too.

Can you tell I'm a cat person?

He He He... you are so right about that Jo! We also have 4 cats and I never thought I would like having a dog. My daughter's dog, Roscoe, was a birthday gift from an old boyfriend. Roscoe has lived with me for about 8 years because Angela can not have dogs where she lives. Roscoe has cancer for the second time and it is going to devastate me when she dies. We got Ginger (the shepard mix) to keep Roscoe company and ease the pain of losing Roscoe when that happens. I think this new puppy is my offspring seizing the opportunity to have another dog because they were not able to when they were little. Thank goodness they come over every day to play with all the dogs.

What kinda dogs do YOU know, Jo?? Mine shed (but so did my cat) and sometimes get muddy paws (easily cleaned). But they don't leave piles of anything anywhere other than the yard (rather than stinking up the house with a nasty litter box) and the only things they chew on are their treats.

They also don't scratch up the furniture, yowl in the middle of the night, etc. Hmph.

miss lilly would rather kiss a cat than have muddy paws; it's so undignified.
and she would never, ever chew on anything other than her toys and treats.

maybe some doggies need to go to charm school!

of course, lillers is bilingual. perhaps that has given her a social edge.
it would also explain her extra-"european" traits-- like licking her own butt.

Robin, lol, I was talking about the nasty piles they leave in the yard to be picked up when/if hubby gets around to it. My cat keeps her furr all cleaned up.....and it's not hair. As for the litter box.....it's in the garage and it's one of those use for a week and pitch ones.....so easy.

Alex.....yeah, and right after she does that I'll bet she licks your face, ewwwwwww.

Another thing that dogs do is touch you with their wet noses.....double ewwww.

Sorry, PJ.....the puppy is cute and I know I'm not normal.

Awww, wet noses are GREAT. And they never, ever scratch (or bite) me. Unlike a certain kitty I used to know.

I much prefer the piles outside than the litter box thing. I HATED the box. And the disgusting litter tracked all over the house. Talk about nasty.

Not to mention that they're much, much better at keeping me warm and cozy on a cold night than the cat was. Although granted, they take up a lot more space in the bed - and one of them tends to be a blanket hog.

Hee. Yeah, I don't have to fight for the remote with mine. But they're not very helpful around the house, either (then again, I know plenty of the two-legged type of blanket hogs that aren't, either).

We have 3 dogs and 5 cats, my house don't stink...much :) The one thing I do like better with cats than with dogs, you can leave a cat alone IN THE HOUSE for a few days and not hire someone to check up on them or to take them out side.
Don't get me wrong, if it wasn't for my daughter I would NEVER have gotten ANY cats, I'm a dog person but that is a bonus with the cats that I couldn't help bringing up :?

Hmmm,
I grew up with cats .. my mother would not let us have a dog. But my hubby is a dog person. Grew up with a whole list of them. I also have two animal loving children. We've had quite the list of "friends" over the years. Bunnies :D ... I must admit I am the one who brough home the Angora and hid her in my daughter's room for 3 days .. trying to prepare hubby for yet another animal. We've had also had Holland lops. :D .. very cute. Now add a lizard .. he was ok :? .. pretty small.. a few birds :D .. still have 2. Cats, a ferrat for a short time... now that is somebody who does smell and chew  ... but cute oh sooooo cute :D Gerbils, fish and dogs. My daughter calls it her "domestic zoo". I have found that I love dogs... but then I love cats too... and bunnies.. add birds .... Oh our dog... my granddog is a big girl. She weighs 130 pounds. She's a black lab English Mastif cross named Heidi. She is wonderful. :D :D Now we have a new granddog named Buddy. He was a very very abused dog (only has one eye) my daughter found left at doggy park. He certainly found the right person. He's a great ole guy. a shepherd Spaniel Golden Retriever mix. He's now happily living with the rest.
YOur new pup is really cute. I understand.
