Sounds good to me. There are some low carb tortillas (mission brand - and white), not plan approved of course. As for the lettuce wraps (thats what Nancy suggests), I think she covered it. Egg with chiles wrapped in lettuce.. yumm. :mrgreen:

OMG. Total PTSD moment. My mother (who hails from New Mexico) used to try to force me to eat this "wonderful dish." Gag-a-moley. I used to tell her that unless I was starving in the desert, napalitos was not something that I would EVER eat. Starving, And in the desert. Do you hear me?? I have no idea what it actually tastes like; however, the very thought of it just sends shivers up my spine. Yeah..uh, thanks for the great memory.

I've never had napolitos, but I have had a mexican veggie soup that had cactus in it. It tasted fine, although the cactus really didn't have much flavor to it. :mrgreen:

Ok, it took me weeks to get up the nerve, but I've tried the eggs. They're just like real eggs! I agree, they look pukey before you cook them, but they turn into nice fluffy eggs.

To fix, I just shaked them in my shaker jar and scrambled them in a pan. They kind of stuck, so I might try the microwave next time.

I used the microwave and they turned out just fine! I found them more filling than regular eggs.

Yo, Jo ~

:shock: I told ya they were good; I wouldn't pull your chain, Kids.
They are filling and Strangled Eggs are great any time of the day. :lol:

Each packet contains 12 grams protein, 10 grams carbs, 5 grams fiber.

They do stick a tad bit unless you spray the pan first.

We prepare ours by shaking the eggs in our shaker jar, add some fresh cilantro or chives (freeze-dried works well, too.). I'll bet you could really fluff 'em in the Magic Bullet - gosh, they'd be like an omelet...

We like to use a short shot of buttery flavor Pam and when the pan is moderately heated, pour in the eggs and scramble away. Use a silicone spatula or spray the spatula, too or you'll be scraping egg off the spatula with your front teeth. :mrgreen:

My DH sprinkles a little Molly McCheese on his.

Pass the Tabasco, please. ;)

PS I suggested to Medifast to consider adding bacon or ham flavor soy bits. Ahhh....heart healthy bacon and eggs!

I mix them in the jar then pour them into a nicely heated skillet that has a little non-stick spray in it. Let them cook a bit, add a little salsa, then I fold the edges in, turn over once, and voila.... omelette.

I tried the eggs for the first time this morning and I can't believe how good they are! I felt like I was cheating. Now, if we could only figure out a way to make sausage into powder! :)

Way back in 1980 I went on this diet through the Diet Center. Lost 80 pounds in 3 months! But one of the "foods" they had for us to snack on were these bits of soy protein that were kind of bacon-flavored. You could eat them right out of the bag, (kind of hard and somewhat crunchy) or soak them in eggs/broth and they'd kind of taste like little bits of sausage. They'd be perfect with these eggs. I've been trying to figure out if there is some place online where they sell them. Anyone know of a site/store that carries "soy bits"?

Looking up what I could find.... the soy sausages are loaded with fat.
Only thing I could find using soy bit and soy bite was soy bacos and mini bread sticks and soy crisps. :cry:

Hmmm.. I just found a listing for a product called "bac'uns".
The nutritional info on it is:

serving size: 1 1/3 tablespoons/7g (seems like a lot to me!)
Calories: 25
Total Fat: .5g
Sodium: 140
Total Carbs: 2g
Dietary Fiber <1g
Sugar: 0g
Protein: 3g

You can buy them by the bottle(2.8 ozs) : $3.69
of by bulk (1 pound/454g): $10.50

Wonder if they would work? Any idea?

I checked with the Medifast nutritionist and they are okie doke.

Please note:
that serving size would count as 2 of their condiment choices for the day.


I've not tasted this particular brand of soy bacon bits.

Mike, I remember having Bacos before when I was young - boy, that was a l-o-o-o-o-n-n-n-g time ago. They were crunchy. I should think one might want to let them sit for a while in the egg water before shaking up the strangled egg to give the "bac'uns" some time to relax. :mrgreen:

I actually love the eggs and think it's a *really great* addition to the medigrub family. I have fun cooking them in the pan and eat them with a little tabasco and pepper. I would love to try the bac'uns :D, thanks for the suggestion !
