HEY THERE EVERYONE!

I know I haven't been on the boards much this past week ...
this was my last week working at the hospital were I've been employed for over 15 years!

It was a bittersweet week; I won't miss the hospital politics at all ... but I will miss the familiarity of the place, and most of the people.

I am moving on to a manager position at a large nursing home in my area. I am very excited about this new career step and anxious to start on the 22nd of this month!

Now, they gave me a surprise farewell party at work today ~ complete with cards, flowers and a CAKE!! A half sheet of chocolate and vanilla cake with vanilla pudding and banana filling and whipped cream topping! They all know I am on medi-fast, the cake was for me - but really for all of them. I told them, "the cake looks delicious and I'll bring a piece home for my husband; You all know I can't have any, but I thank you very much!".

They said, "You'd BETTER have a piece!" ... well, I didn't and no one even noticed! I cut the pieces for everyone and put them on plates ...then, I went back to mingling with everyone and telling them all about my new job. They were all busy feeding their own faces to even notice that I wasn't!

I made ONE mistake!!

I licked the whipped cream off my ONE finger ONE time! (horrors, you say?) well, yes ... now I have the runs! No kidding. Look what a little sugar will do! While cutting and serving the cake (using a knife and my finger to transfer the pieces to the plates), I wiped my finger with a napkin ... but absent mindedly licked my finger on the last piece!

No more cheating for me! ... my hiney can't take it

Looking forward to seeing what the weigh-in's are this Sunday.

Thank you everyone for your well wishes and kudos on "cake duty"!

I truly feel like I am becoming an improved person in my relationship with food and my eating habits ... and moving on to a different stage in my life professionally and personally.

Thank God for all of you in here who keep me together.

I'm a little late, but great job, Cathy!!! At least it was just a basic store-bought cake, right, not homemade? Those are harder for me to turn down. If I'm going to cheat, I want it to be WORTH it!!

We're having food brought in at work tonight, for election night. Macaroni Grill. Somehow I know my dinner's not going to smell HALF as good as this spread. But I'm staying away.

Look how far you've come already!

Remember, Macaroni Grill will still be there at the end of this journey and your CHOICES will KEEP you at your weight and taste great too!

(This is my "mantra" when I am so wanting a glass of wine!)

Thanks, Cathy (BTW, that was my FAVORITE doll as a kid). I'm not even considering having anything other than the food I brought, cheesecake and garlic bread notwithstanding.

But it's hard, and I feel your pain. It's especially hard when the goodies are there for YOU. But you're right; the cake was really more for them.
