I'm new here!

Postby Tara » February 18th, 2006, 2:12 pm

Hi Everyone,

I am new to this place. I just bought my first months supply of Medifast. I tried it for a day and said yuck I don't think so. I started looking on the internet and found this site. I am thrilled to find all the different recipes for the food. That is really exciting for me.

I am 24 years old and have about 80 pounds to loose. Before I had my son I was 5'4 and about 125. And ideal weight for my height. Not to sound snobbish but I did look pretty good. After a baby and four years later I just can't seem to stop packing on the pounds. Of course it doesn't help that it’s genetic. EVERYONE on my dad’s side of the family is overweight and so are about half the people in my mom’s family. I am getting to the point where the depression over my weight is getting overwhelming. I know I need to do something. I was reading an article in People magazine a few weeks ago and came across an article about a lady who did Medifast. I was really curious about the diet but I tossed the magazine by mistake. Luckily the nice editors of People were kind enough to email me the story so I could remember the name of the diet.

Anyway, after seeing all these wonderful meal ideas I am excited to try them. I see that there is a lot of support here and that really excites me. I don’t really have much of that. Thanks for letting me tell my story and hopefully I will start to loose very soon!

Tara

Welcome to the goup :goteam: We are so glad to have you with us. Just follow the plan to a tee and you will be dropping pounds left and right!! I did not get to see the article in People :tears: but have heard a lot here about it. I think it is great that you are doing something about yourself now cause 80lbs is not a huge amount to lose and you should be at goal in no time doing the happy dance

Thanks. I guess my only question is, it’s ok to try some of the recipes right? Or are they for people who have been doing this a while?

TRying the recipes

Postby Jan » February 18th, 2006, 7:04 pm

Hi Tara,
First welcome welcome welcome to our group. :D Don't worry the forum members will help you along the way and make certain you don't get off the path. :? Peruse the "lean cuisine" section of the forum. Many have gone before you and have figured out neat legal ways to spice up the food. And, remember your tastes will change as you go along. So, what is not your favorite today may be your favorite in a couple of weeks. Read and reread that Quick Start Booklet -- if it's not listed in there -- don't eat it!! That way you will part with those pesky pounds for sure.
We'll all be watching for you.

Tara, welcome! :D Jan is absolutely right! I used to hate the chicken noodle soup, and now I just love it. Your taste buds will change and there are a lot of creative, "legal" ways to make things more to your liking. I am happy you have found the site and happy to have you join us! You are on your way

Hi Tara,
I'm new too! My hubby and I just started yesterday. I'm a really picky eater and didn't think I'd like much of the Medifast food. A long-time friend of mine has been on Medifast for 7 months and has lost A LOT of weight (ditto for her mother!), so that's why we're doing the diet.
I completely relate to everything you said, which is what prompted me to write back to you. I was 5 feet 1 inch, weighed 130 and hated my stomach...now I realize that was no stomach! What I've got now is REALLY a stomach!!! I'm 170, after 2 kids (via c-section!). I'm sick of thinking about my weight every day, sick of my clothes getting tighter.
What I really wanted to let you know is that I can vouch for the fact that the food starts to taste better to you! Before getting on the plan, I tried some samples - fruit & granola bar, orange shake and chocolate divine bar. Except for the shake, they all tasted disgusting (the shake was ok). But this morning when i ate a fruit & granola bar, it tasted better...same with the chocolate divine bar when i had it yesterday. And before I started the diet, my friend and her mom warned me that the food tastes nasty at first, but as you keep eating it, it starts to taste better. So, I had more preparation than you, but I want to encourage you to stick to it. You'll be ecstatic that you did!
