New from Massachusetts

Postby Alicia » May 8th, 2007, 5:56 pm

Hi to everyone. I am excited to find this forum. I am on my first day of the program and am thrilled to have made it a day w/o stuffing my face!(smile) I made sure to have a shake every two hours and that really helped me forget I wasn't eating. Cooking for my family was a challenge, but I made it.
I have about 80 lbs to loose. I did this program about 10 years ago through a doc. and it worked great. I kept everything off until the birth of my 2nd child when I gained 70 lbs. I have consistently gained 10-15 lbs a year for the last 6 yrs.
I am ready to make this work now. I have been so embarrassed to go anywhere, not to mention the tacky comments of my weight gain from acquaintances.

Thanks to both of you. Mike, I was just looking at some of the before & after pics. You and your wife look great with your progress.
I hope to get there. I'm trying to get up the nerve to post my before pics.
I kind of want to wait until I loose some #s.

Hi Alicia :)

I was super hesitant about posting before pics too, since I have so so much to lose, but let me tell you, it was REALLY liberating! After spending years of not eating in front of people, refusing to talk to anyone about my weight, and hiding from cameras, etc etc.. I am trying this new thing where I am open and honest with everyone.

People here were very kind about my photos, and they will be with yours, (whenever you decide to post them) of that I have no doubt.

Welcome! :)

Hi Alicia,
Welcome!

As for the pics...I think I waited to post mine until I lost 30lbs, then I posted before and during pics. When you do it and if you do it is completely up to you...I just know it was another level of accountability for me! Plus a way to document what I'd accomplished!

So glad you're shakin' with us!

Welcome. I am probably guilty of posting too many pics but I post them in my journal mostly as "gratitude" pictures of the day so I can look back on them and see how far I have come. Some are when I was really heavy and some are how I am right now. I also have my beginning picture in the studio along with pics at 40 lbs, 50 lbs lost and some in between.IN the beginning I went full out and even exposed my midrift a la "The biggest Loser." It was intensely unflattering but gives me gratitude too, and not just because I have lost 60 pounds. By the time I had lost 20 pounds I could tell I was a different person and so could others on the board. It does take trust and courage to post a before pic but I think the benefits outweigh the costs.

Welcome Alicia!!!!! :byebye:

Ditto to what DeDe said. Posting my before pic was definitely a great reminder for me of where I was and where I never want to be again. I had this problem that if I didn't see how fat I was, it wasn't true. By posting my pictures.......I know......it was definitely true and I can't deny it. It really helps keep me motivated and accoutable.
