Hi all.
I have been lurking on this forum for months. Am I Ok to participate in this forum if I have not done Medifast? I have done a bariatrics diet, similar to Medifast, but have not found any forums dedicated to Bariatrics. Other than a few differences in the products, I have not been able to see a huge distinction between the diet I have been on and Medifast. I began in January, lost 33 lbs, got too skinny, needed to gain 5 lbs or so, have actually gained 8 and cannot seem to get them off. I know that probably doesn't sound like a big deal to most of you ( and goodness knows I am soooo very proud of those who have lost tons of weight in here), but I am 5'1" and small framed so 5 lbs makes a difference.
Anyway, I just wanted to say hello. Again, I hope it's ok for me to participate even though I am not a Medifaster.

I cnat speak for anyone else, but it is ok with me. I'm glad that you have had success, and if you are really stuck, you might want to give medifast a try for a while.

With MF, you could proabably have those 5 lbs off in 1 week, maybe 2.

medifast wouldn't be a good idea for 3-5#, so i think you are right in not doing it. that being said, i'm sure everyone here will be really supportive.

good luck on reaching your goal! if you were to do light weights 4x a week, you would probably hit goal in 2 - 3 weeks.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I am going to be travelling ( by plane) in a few weeks and would rather not pack things in my suitcase that might melt. I will have access to a grocery store once I reach my destination.Does anyone have any suggestions for store-bought bars that are a) Tasty, b) low in fat, high in protein, and c) fairly low in calories? I have been looking at the ones in the grocery store and it seems there are lots to choose from. They are somewhat pricey, so I was hoping someone might have a recommendation before I spend alot of money for a box of bars that aren't very good!

I recently tried South Beach Diet Cereal Bars. It's not recommended to use off-plan products but these bars have saved me a time or two when I couldn't get to my MF stash. They're about 140 calories, 10 g protein, and 15 g carbs (12 if you subtract the fiber).

I've been eating the MF Fruit & Nut bar and the Smores Granola bar b/c I don't have any melting issues. You should have time to place an order for your trip.

Best of luck!!!

If I order the bars with a coating on them, they seem to melt in the summer heat during shipping, but the granolas don't have any coating so I eat them in the summer.
