Hello Fatbgone and anyone else who is on synthroid or any other thyroid meds. Well, I had my thyroid removed about 4 years ago because of benin tumors. I now take synthroid and cytomel in the morning. I've been on mf for 1wk and have not lost anything.

Fatbgone, how long on mf before you noticed any movement on the scales? Since thyroid removal I've gained all sorts of weight and am hoping mf works for me.

Encouragement from anyone with thyroid problems will be greatly appreciated!!

I completely understnd what you are going through. I have been on synthroid for about 12 years and my current doseage is 300mcg! It does take some time but your body will adjust. The important thing is not to be a scale watcher. I play the numbers came to but since we do not walk around the world with a little note that states "HI I am Dawn and I weigh..." I try to judge by my close and energy level. As I am sure you know when the glands are not there or are not working we tend to have a very low energy level and when we eat foods that are not so good for us we tend to feel even slower, but with MF I saw a difference the 4th day in. My energy level increased. Just be patient and you will see the scale drop.

Hi TK...I'm sorry you didn't lose anything yet... :( Are you drinking enough water (like 64 oz or more)? I still have my thyroid, but I take synthroid because it's underactive. Actually when I first went to the dr for it, my tsh level was 11 (it's supposed to be .5 to 1.0), so she commented that she didn't even know how I had enough energy to get out of bed each day and was sure that some of my other organs would be failing miserably...but happy to say after all the tests that she ran, my kidneys, liver and stuff were all still ok...she was amazed. I've been taking the medicine for about a year now and my level is down in the normal range...finally. It took readjusting my dosage 3 times, but as of my last appt. it is finally right.

Well, I did read that we might show a slower weight loss & my first week, I lost 7 pounds, which was good, but I've seen alot that lose 12 or more...so I wondered then about how much slower mine was going to take. Most weeks, I've been losing 2-3 pounds and there have been a couple weeks where I lost 3-4. I've even had a couple weeks where I stayed the same (like right now  ).

I think that first week is getting rid of alot of water weight, so maybe you just weren't carrying any extra water. Don't give up & just keep doing it...maybe you'll just have a BIG fall all at once. You might want to email Nancy and let her know how you're eating and maybe she can see something that you need to correct..??

Well, I hope this helped - probably not...but I tried... :) Anyway, like I said, just DON"T GIVE UP...it'll happen!! I haven't heard of anyone who's doing this that doesn't lose weight...eventually!!

Keep us posted & take care!!

Hellow and thank you for the encouragement. I refuse to give up. I am at my all time highest weight and I am so uncomfortable with that. My energy level is better, still fighting hunger pains and headaches and a little dizzyness.

What I need to get over is the scales. It's always been a problem. In the past, I don't see movement and I give up. I have to be stronger now. I have to see past the numbers....so hard to do. :x

Hey Tk - be sure to have some bouillon or fast soups for the dizziness. That really helped me!

Synthroid

Postby NE gal in South » May 9th, 2005, 1:40 pm

I take mine around 3 am when I wake up for a trip to the sandbox. Despite my slow thyroid I have managed to shed 145 lbs of flabbage in 8 months. Don't give up, it may take some time to begin to work for you, when it does you will become a new healthy person. Keep "SHAKIN"!!!

Hi Thininme

Postby Wisp » May 13th, 2005, 3:08 pm

Hi Dawn - I am new too - actually will not get my box until about Tuesday they say. I am wondering ...is it a good idea to weigh every day or not to weigh at all. I also would be discouraged if I did not see weight loss. So, what is the best thing to do?

PS I still am trying to get a ticker.

Mary Lou............do what you've done on the tickerfactory. Then don't cut and paste the FIRST thing you see in the skinny box..............go to the first bigger box, the "bb code" I believe is what it says, at the bottom, and cut and paste just that in.

That ought to fix you up.

:yay: Welcome everyone!

:x Some of you need to have your scales confiscated. Get off if it makes you cwazy! :nana: I mean it. A person's weight can vary three pounds within the day, sometimes more.

Don't give your scale more power than it should - it is just a measuring device, a mere tool that records your weight for the moment. It takes a course of time to see the reward for doing the right thing. Your instant gratification comes when you choose to drink a shake or eat MF oatmeal instead of raiding the cookie jar.

Take thyroid medication 1-2 hours before eating soy or 2-3 hours after eating or have a non-soy MF product for breakfast such as the Cappuccino or Chai Latte.
