This really is working perfect for me...I have my shakes throughout the day and then for dinner I have a lean/green and I pay attention to my portions so much so that I actually weigh my meat on my WW scale. My stomach is now accustomed to smaller portions and I'm finding it so much easier now to stick with the program because my body has adjusted so nicely and quickly, I might add.

All along, I've been monitoring my blood sugars, and since the MF my sugars have never been better. But, I have an interesting quick story for you...the first few days on the program, I was monitoring my sugars and they were the best they had ever been since being on the MF. Well, this one day, my urges got the better of me and I caved in to a "small" portion of macaroni and cheese...afterwards...I just wasn't feeling well and so I decided to check my blood sugar...well, it spiked to almost 400! And that was due to one small portion of mac and cheese!

Some, diabetics, not all...do not realize how dangerous it can be just to have one little portion of a forbidden food...my doctor gave me strick orders to not have any refined carbs "ever" I actually mourned like I lost a best friend...why, b/c I was the #1 carb addict...and I do believe it was my gross overeating of carbs that lead to my current situation of type 2 diabetes....

Luckily for me, I am not on insolin...and I am now controling my diabetes thru proper eating...which is in large part, my Medifast...and to be completely honest with you....I don't know if I ever want to go off of MF. I think MF is like a medicine to my system...it keeps my sugars level and I feel my best when on the program. I bless the day I found this program and I do believe nothing happens by accident...I was led here, in order to save my life...and I do believe I have.

Super post, Deb.

Your experience is very much like others and it is good that you realize the effect of certain carbs on your glucose readings. Our Medifast products are all balanced and are low glycemic. My 81-year old diabetic Daddy ate some potato salad (Potatoes are among the worst possible things for diabetics to eat) the other night just before bed and his morning glucose reading was 400! He said the potato salad wasn't even that good...it is important to maintain normal blood sugar readings for good overall health - the feeling of being in control and improved sense of well-being are worth saying "No" to Macaroni and Cheese and Potato Salad.

I wanted to chime in about your thought on MF being your "MEDICINE". That is EXACTLY what it is for me. I was on heavy oral meds before beginning MF and on the dire edge of getting insulin due to lack of control. Within 2 weeks I was off all meds completely and haven't needed them since!! Even while on maintenance after surgery I continued using my MF to keep my blood sugar under control . I believe I will continue to do this for life.........for two reasons......my diabetes AND my weight control. It does everything they claim it does!! For ONCE we are GETTING WHAT WE ARE PAYING FOR ;)
