New and ready to begin my journey

Postby floridagirl47 » May 26th, 2007, 10:17 am

I am about to start Medifast and can't wait to receive my package. It will probably arrive by Tuesday. I am planning on still being accountable this weekend though and getting in some exercise.

A little about me....I am a 28 year old single mom from Florida. I want to lose about 30-35 pounds. Since I am only 5'1 tall and currently weigh around 165, I think this is a very realistic goal and it is very doable. I have done a lot of research into Medifast and am excited about starting.

I look forward to being a healthier mom for my son and a more active person all the way around. I enjoy running/walking 5ks and I know that losing weight will also help me feel better and be more active.

I lost one of my good friends just this week to cancer and it really helped open my eyes and realize that life is short.....I want to do all that I can to make my life a good example for my son, not only in my faith, but in how I treat my body, too.

I am going to post before pictures as soon as I can figure out how.... =)

Glad you have done so much research. You also have a wealth of information already on the boards and from fellow board members if you have any questions. I hope you have read the Quickistart guide but if you haven't it is available on this site and will be shipped with your first order. (Hint:the one on the board is more up to date!) Welcome!

Hi there Kim,
I think your goal is very doable also!! Before you know it those pesky pounds will be a thing of the past. And .. even better I see you have a great desire to be the healthiest person you can be. :D That means you're already way ahead at keeping the pounds gone!! :D :D When we realize that we are doing this not only to look great but even more importantly to be healthy .. we've made it. I'll be watching for you. :D :D

Glad you're here, Kim  , though I'm sorry to hear you lost your friend.

Have you checked out the journals? I'm still pretty new (only five weeks in) but I found writing in mine and reading others' super helpful.

Take care,

Hi Kim  I'm sorry you've experienced such a tragic loss, but I think your friend would be happy to know that it has made you realize how very precious life is--and how very fragile. Losing weight, however, will not only make you healthier but, as you said so eloquently, will be a testament to your faith in how you respect the body God gave you! <img src="http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/17/17_1_22.gif" alt="SmileyCentral.com" border="0"><img border="0" src="http://plugin.smileycentral.com/http%253A%252F%252Fimgfarm%252Ecom%252Fimages%252Fnocache%252Ftr%252Ffw%252Fsmiley%252Fsocial%252Egif%253Fi%253D17%252F17_1_22/image.gif">

Hi Kim. Welcome aboard. Sorry to hear about your friend, tough thing to go through.
You have made a good choice. One thing to remind you about, when starting this program, if you have been exercising regularly before, cut it back to half... if you haven't been regularly exercising, don't start for about 3 weeks to give your body time to adjust.

Again, welcome, and good luck on the journey.

Your goal to be healthy and fit is the right one.
Keep optimistic and compliant and you will do fine and reach that goal!
Lots of people here have done it, and so can you!
