Nervous in the mornings??

Postby Lasi » December 6th, 2007, 8:17 am

Good Morning,

I have now lost 41 lbs since July 17th!!. When I wake up in the mornings I am real shaky, I have a shake at night. I feel like I have tons of energy, too much. Almost like Adrenaline. I have a shake but it doesn't go away until about noon.

Anybody have any ideas on this?

Thanks
Lasi

CONGRATS on the weight loss!! Someone needs to change your club level seating!!

Are you taking in a lot of caffeine? Is it that kind of shake? Or is it the 'I'm not eating enough' shakes?

A couple of years ago I was like that and a six pack took it away. But that's not on Medifast. But seriously, don't just listen to the people on here with something that sounds so serious and is causing you so much discomfort. Call your doctor.

You might try something other than a shake for your last meal of the day. Maybe an oatmeal or a soup? I know it might be difficult, but try to have your last meal a couple of hours or so before bed. Maybe after that last meal would be a good time for a work out - even if it is just a little one. Or - like OWTO said, your caffeine intake throughout the day may be making you jittery as well. Since you are taking in only 800-900 calories a day even a little caffeine may be too much for you esp if you have it in the evening. If it continues try canceling out ALL caffeine and addding more water to keep you cleansed.

I agree with the advice about seeing a Dr - as a long-time sufferer, it sounds like low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). this can be a natural effect of the low calorie intake plus the length of time since last eating, or it could be a sign of something more serious - get it checked out.

Sounds like you are having your last one too early. I know when we aren't spacing them properly I can get a little shaky. I doubt its caffeine from the day before, but that could have an impact.
As Biki and others said, it sounds liek the best thing to do is talk with your Dr. about that. Don't forget that TSFL members have access to a TSFL Doctor (usually Dr. Andersen or Dr. Joe) on Wednesday nights. There are lots of great questions and answers to alot of the typical issues and sometimes non-typical issues on that call.

Thanks everyone. I don't drink caffeine during the day. I will try to take my last meal right before bedtime and see if that helps. I am seeing my doc at the end of the month.

like fairlady, i was going to suggest testing for hypoglycemia. Also, i used to get shaky if i wasn't getting enuff water in. When the body dehydrates, you will notice MANY different symptoms, shakiness, awareness of your heartbeat, etc. If i fully hydrated myself with water, the symptoms would completely go away. Either way, let us know what the doc says.
