Jan- I am so sorry that you are hurting right now. Your father has just made the most beautiful transition in life. He is living a life with Jesus now. Although his "shell" is gone, he is still alive. He is in you. He is around you. He is everywhere, because he is with Jesus. I pray that you will find peace with his transition and that you will feel a relief of your pain. We are here for you. Jan, you are strong and you will make it through this. Just remember your faith. We love you.

Jan, you have no idea how close to home your post is right now. I am so sorry for your loss - your father sounds like a special person.

I'm going through the EXACT same thing right now - my father is home w/hospice. I have been flying back and forth from NH to FLA to spend time with him, and I too am an only child. It's hard I think because there is no one to really share the exact emotion with - even though friends and family are there - it's just not the same.

I am again so so sorry for your loss - 100 years! Sounds like he lived a good and long life. And was lucky to have you in it.

Bless you -
Maria

It does get easier - when you are ready to let him go. I pray that day is soon.

I still cry for my father who died 3 years ago in June. But mostly happy tears fall because I know he is with Jesus. I actually had a dream where I "literally" let my father go as I watched him sail off from our lakehouse - and this was BEFORE he died. (He LOVED to sail. In my dream I knew I wouldn't see him again if I let him sail away, but that was OK.) God was good to me and prepared me well for losing him. My family struggled as we watched both my sister-in-law and my father die from cancer within 8 months of each other. She too was strong and was a perfect example of someone who knew where they were going.

I don't mean to hijack the thread of well wishes and prayers, just know from our experiences that you will heal, and we are here to lift you up!

((((HUGS))))

Jan,

I can't imagine how hard this must be for you. I'm so pleased your father was able to spend his last night on Earth with his WONDERFUL daughter and grandchildren listening to his favorite songs sung by his dear friend. He knows he raised a good one in you and I'm sure he's at peace. At 100 years old, he lived a full and wonderful life and I pray I have as much time with my beloved father as you did!

My thoughts are with you. You know how to contact me if you need ANYTHING and I DO mean Anything!

Hi I'm just checking in to say Thank you sooo much to everyone. I know your prayers will keep me going. I still have lots of things to take care of -- but one by one I'm making progress. Daddy's big cat Reno misses him as does the wonderful lady who was his nurse. I found them both wrapped up in Daddy's blanket.

Jan ... so glad that you posted an update. I applaud you for making the "tough" decisions and honoring your family-member's wishes. Sometimes the medical system is just like a brick wall and you've just got to keep hitting it. Please accept my condolences for your loss.

Jan,

My thoughts and prayers go out to you at this difficult time. I lost my Father 20 years ago when he was only 66. How wonderful that your Father lived such a rich, long life. I can say from experience that the pain of loss does soften with time. Cherish the memories you have and know that you will be reunited with your Father on the other side.
