Good Morning to all my friends here ! I know I haven't posted to roll call in quite a while and I apologize for being away for so long. I've been very drepressed for the last two months, my 15 year old dog, Lucky, our Field Spaniel, is going ... and neither my husband nor I, have the courage to put her down.

We love her very much and are praying for her to go on her sleep one of these days, just like Peppy, our Cocker Spaniel did last year, he was 18 yrs. But Lucky is a bigger breed and they don't live as long. Our Vet told me to get ready ...

I totally lost on medifast, I blew it big time and from 223 I went all the way up to 250. I was trying to get back to the 223 before getting back in here, but it's been very hard. I've managed to lose 15 pounds on my own, but I need every ones support right now. My goal was to be at 199 (in wonderland) by my 50th birthday, which was last Monday, the 24th. And I failed. Another reason for my sadness ...

But I am back and will be posting every week from now on until I reach my goal weight!

I just can't afford to Cheat anymore ... that one first Bite is the kiss of Death for me!

Please, help and support me on this journey to get back to my normal body again. I want to be free from this prison that my body has become. So help me God!

I miss you all!
{{{hugs}}}
Love,
Angelica

Hi there, I'm so glad your back! I hear your struggle and understand it completely. All I can say is don't give up, keep on going. If you have a bad day, don't let it get you down, pick yourself up and get back on the wagon.

Keep coming back to the forum, pick a few buddies that will keep you accountable. Believe you me, I wanted to give up a few times, but I have to many people invested in my success to just QUIT! I won't be the fat girl left behind when they are all skinny! ;)

It's a daily thing to start off, sometimes hourly. One day a time, one hour at a time, one minute at a time in some cases. YOU CAN DO THIS!

We are here for you! Feel free to PM me if you want to vent, talk, anything!
Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts.

Start Weight 326.7 ~ My short term goal will put me at 250!

Started June 19th 2008. First Mini Goal 76.7 pounds.

I'm so sorry about Lucky. I had to put my cat to sleep last year, and I'm dreading the day my 12-year-old dog gets too sick to be saved (and my 3-year-old dog, for that matter). It's one of the hardest things you'll ever have to do, but you can't do it until you're ready. I agonized over it with my Elvis, until I finally asked HIM to show me what he wanted one way or the other. That night, he slept with me for the first time in ages, and the next day he refused to even sip water, and I knew it was time. It was before I started Medifast, and I drowned my sorrows in food for nearly a week. As we all know, it didn't help. It didn't even REALLY make me feel better.

As for the birthday deadline, I SO wanted to hit goal by my birthday this year but I think I'm going to miss it by a week or two. You know what? It doesn't matter. So, you didn't make it by this birthday. You can be there the NEXT birthday - and every birthday after THAT. Our bodies lose weight at their own pace. All you can do is follow the plan; if you don't hit some artificial time-based goal, then so what? In the grand scheme of your life, what difference does it make if you hit a certain weight on your birthday or a month later? What matters is that you keep working toward your goal; if you do, you'll hit that weight eventually.

Good luck, and again, I'm so sorry to hear about your Lucky. I know you'll do what's best for him AND you when the time is right. Please feel free to PM or e-mail any time if you want to talk.

Angelica,

I'm SO SORRY about Lucky! I know you and your hubby will do what you may need to do when you are ready, or she might say goodbye on her own. Brings back some of the worst memories of my life. I'm SO SORRY you're going through this!

As for restarting MF, we're here for you! Robin's totally right...

Angel,

I am so sorry about Lucky. I know how that is. I had to put my sweet beagle, Suzee, down after 15 years. Her epilepsy had taken away the last bit of her conscious mind and I knew that it was better for her to sleep than to live on in body only. Bless her little heart. You will know when it is time, because you know that it's not fair to keep them around for our comfort if they are in pain or torment. She will always be a part of your heart and she will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge. When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster. You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together.... Author unknown...

Welcome back and we will all be here to support you in your weight loss. Just take it as it comes and know that even if you slip or fall, just dust yourself off and get back on the wagon immediately. PM if you want to....

Angelica, I feel your pain but I want you to consider this: Dogs ask for only one thing and that is our love. 15 years is a sucess story and you have exceeded all of Lucky's dreams. So many others do not get this chance. Parting with a dog is so very difficult but when the time is right releasing Lucky from the shackels of her body will be a gift you can give to your best companion.

Hi Sharon, Robin, Dede, Tammy, Cate and drmjwdvm!

You guys are so sweet!!! I really felt your love, support and concern!

Tammy, I'm sorry for Suzee. I also love beagles ... they are one of my favorite breeds too.

Anyways, I have great news for all of you ... after a very stressful week, my girl, Lucky Pretti, is doing much better ... Actually, she's doing great!!! I called her Vet and explained what was going on and he prescribed a medication, which I still had at home from Peppy, my little boy (Cocker Spaniel -who die last year at 18 years old). It's an unti-inflammatory med and is helping her a lot. Lucky is sleeping the whole night through now and she is getting up by herself. She also has been very alert lately and I can't believe how fast she's recovering ... as you know, Lucky is a Field Spaniel and she is a 50 pound dog. She is still a gorgeous girl! So docil, and now she's coming to me asking for treats, or to go for a walk ... It's amazing ... just like a miracle!

My hubby and I are loving her even more ... she has a dysplasia of the right hip, but it has improved tremendously!!! We feel very blessed!!!

Thank you so much for your prayers, loving messages and for all your support! I think that helped a lot on "our recovery" ...

And thank you, for being there for me too! I am down another 3 pounds (231 this morning) and that is 19 pounds in less than 2 weeks ... I'm very happy with the results!

Please, keep in touch with me! I continue to need your strength and support!

I'm so happy for ALL of you!! (Out of curiosity, what medication is it? I put Maggie on a daily dose of Deramaxx and it's completely changed her life. When they talk about pulling it off the market because it's like Vioxx, I get ready to order a big enough supply to last the rest of her life.)

Hello, my friends!!!

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!!!

I'm starting to feel much better ... I don't know if it was the stress or what, but my whole body aches ... it feels like a truck ran over me ...

My hubby was home last night (he is a General Surgeon and is on call a lot - 3 to 5 nights a week), anyways, last night he gave me a 3 hour full body massage ... I went to Heaven and came back ... it was better than ... you know what ... lol

Robin, the medication I'm giving Lucky is Etodolac or Lodine (400 grms) a day. She gets 1/2 for lunch and 1/2 for dinner (with food). I also cook for her. I make Lamb shanks sauteed with olive oil, onions and garlic. When it's brownish I add filtered water and let it cook on very low (simmer) for 2 hours. Then I remove all the bones, let it cool and remove all the fat.

I give her 2 Tbs of it with 1 Tbs of rice and her dry food which is Health Choice for Senior Dogs, with Glucosamine and Chondroitin for healthy joints. She just loves it!!!

Yesterday I groomed her, cut her nails and gave her a nice bath. She was so happy and so full of energy that we decided to take her upstairs and she slept at the foot of our bed on her pillow! It felt good to have her upstairs again ... even if it were only for one night. Brian is on call tonight and I am not carrying her upstairs ...

Anyways, I still have "TOM" in town and am feeling bloated and sore ... when is this ever going to end!?!

Well, enough of me and our adorable Lucky, now I want to know how you guys are doing!?! Drinking a lot of water!?! I drink and pee the whole day ... lol. I'm almost done with my second gallon of water ... I usually drink only one gallon a day. But today I ate some olives and a piece of feta cheese and need to flush the salt out of my system.

Well, it's past 11:30 and I need to go to bed now. Hubby will be home tomorrow night and I am looking forward for my next massage session ... he promised me he would do it again tomorrow night, but not for so long, he said ... lol :pet:
