I need help with my oatmeal

Postby Sablebaby » June 28th, 2005, 11:30 pm

I bought samples of the oatmeal flavors and tried one tonight. I had the french vanilla berry. It smells really good, but the taste was blah. I even put in three packets of sweet n low and a little bit of salt to flavor and it barely made a difference. I put in just under 3/4 cup water and added a little bit more as I stirred. Am I missing something? The consistency was like glue. I know, this isn't supposed to be gourmet food, but I was really looking forward to liking another product. :bounce: Help!

Have you tried the cookies? I hate oatmeal, but I like the cookies a lot (just don't expect REAL cookies when you make them).

I haven't tried the cookies, yet. I want to but I wanted to try the oatmeal alone first as I kinda like oatmeal. I guess maybe adding flavors to the oatmeal will help.

Heather I have the same problem with the oatmeal....I just can't acquire a taste for it....I think it has to do with the consistency or something. I have also tried the cookies, but still have troubles. Other people love the oatmeal, so it must be my finicky taste buds!

Sorry you didn't like the oatmeal. I remember my first one didn't appeal that much to me either; however, now I love them. But, I am not really fond of the Vanilla Berry. Do you have the Apple Cin or Maple Sugar flavors? Much better to my taste buds.

Yay! I just cooked my oatmeal on the stove and it's great! I'm having the maple and brown sugar one and it's good. That's the flavor that I always have of regular oatmeal so that might be another reason why it's good. Thanks for suggestions, it saved my oatmeal! :D

Oatmeal

Postby Jan » July 3rd, 2005, 5:24 pm

Hi Heather,
My favorites are the maple brown sugar and the cinnamon apple. I use the vanilla berry (along with the others) to make "oatmeal pancakes " -- recipe in "lean cuisine" I really love them with a little spray "butter" and sometimes a little sugar free syrup. They are a real treat for me. Other times I make my oatmeal really thick (cut down on the water) and sprinkle it with cinnamon, or whatever spice temps me and a little splenda. I call it "bread pudding" and it's my dessert. I think our tastes change as we progress on program.

Fix up your Oatmeal

Postby skramstad » July 25th, 2005, 2:07 pm

The easy fix to all of the Oatmeal flavors is a bit of cinnamon, Splenda and spray butter or butter buds. Wow! what a difference!

Hi Heather, I prefer the Apple Cin. because I make it with half of a package of sugar free spiced cider and it tastes like apple pie.

It you fix the Vanilla Berry on the stove and add some sugar free divinci syrup (blackberry or Blueberry) or add extracts it dresses it up nicely.

Have fun with the Oatmeal recipes......

Hi...I love the apple cin. oatmeal...a little more cinnamon and some splenda....and a squirt of whipped cream on the top and it is a nice way to wake up.....I use the Redi whip in a squirt can....only 15 calories in 2 TBS...I bet I use about one tablespoon....it melts over the top and tastes like dessert....one of my favorite food groups in the past..... :eat:
