Need advice for workdays - how bad is this?

Postby nickieluv » October 1st, 2007, 9:43 am

Lately, with my work schedule, it's been tough to have two separate supplements during the day. So all last week I was just eating two supplements at the same time, halfway through my work day. Is this a bad idea? I really don't HAVE to do it that way on any day except Friday - the other four days I can make time to eat twice, I just have to stick to it.

The problem is that this year, we have a student with a peanut allergy so I can't keep any food in my classroom at all. So I have to walk to the other side of the building to eat, and I only have 15 minutes. It's enough time to walk over, chug a shake, and walk back, but I like a more leisurely pace.

Should I keep eating once at work, or split the supplements whenever I can? And if I am eating just once on Fridays, how terrible an idea is that?

Nickie,

Given your history, I would say it's a really bad idea. I would do what it takes to make sure you eat every 3 or so hours. Playing tricks like that could be a big part of why you feel the need to cheat.

I've been on program for 2 days (back from a foody vacation), and already the hunger and cravings are gone.

If you follow the program, it really does work. I know I've told you this before, just reinforcing.

Yes, after asking I kind of worked this through on my own. I have to remember MF is a science, not some fad diet, and there are reasons for all the rules. I will unfortunately have to do the combined thing on Fridays, but I can split my meals properly every other day if I just plan ahead to do so.

I've just been so lazy lately - no other word for it. Trying to make myself feel better by exercising, but my eating has been lazy lazy lazy. I just haven't been willing to really commit 100% to reaching my goal. I said I was trying - I wasn't lying, exactly, but actions speak louder than words.

So - the question I asked here is just proof that I haven't wanted to do this the right way. No more! I have so much work to do - but procrastinating will not make the work less, and I've learned that in business and personal life - time to apply the lesson to food.

Hang in there, Nickie!! If this was easy, we'd live in a thin, healthy nation with no plus-sized stores except for uberserious athletes. It's worth it! You, a child of the Most High, are worth it! Don't sacrifice what's best for you for what's easiest.

On RARE occasion I've doubled my meals, but I can probably count how many times I did that on 1 hand! As you've noted, MF is a science ... we need to keep our blood sugar level constant or we will feel the hungries or worse yet, our bodies will store fat! YIKES!

And look at it this way ... those extra steps to the other side of the building will help too! :)

My thought on it is this.... how are you having something every 3 hours if you only eat once at work? Are you eating right when you get there and then right after?

Anyhow, I would make up the shakes or perhaps make some oatmeal cookies or something so you can have them with you and eat them between classes. Just trying to help a gal out. ;)
