Nausea - is this sometimes normal?

Postby nickieluv » December 31st, 2006, 12:03 pm

Hi all;

First let me say I'm feeling better now.

But about an hour after my second meal of the day, an orange shake, I felt extremely nauseous. My chest felt a bit tight, and I just had this feeling like I was going to lose it at any time.

I waited until it was time for my next meal, about 1:30, and I made a Chai thinking that something hot might help. I've been sipping it very slowly since then and am starting to feel OK again.

But has anyone else experienced this feeling early on, or at any point? Do you know what could have caused it?

I did the first few days and had to start taking Lactaid pills with my shakes. You could have lactose intolerance. I know, I know, it never bothered me when I was eating all that pizza and cheeseburgers, but Medifasting it did. I was able to stop taking the pills after a few days when my stomach adjusted.

Thanks. I'll have to check and see if the Chai has lactose, because I felt OK with that until about 40 minutes ago, and now I feel funny again - but no where near as bad as earlier. I'm going to see if I have any supplements without it to have next, and see if that makes a difference.

It does seem odd that you can have lactose all the time and it not bother you, but now on this diet it's an issue. I'm glad to hear that it will go away, though. If things are still off tomorrow I'll go buy the Lactaid and try that.

Hmmm,
Girgling stomach, abdominal cramping, bloating or diarhea are all symptoms of a lactose intolerance problem. I'm not certain about the nausea unless one of the above symptoms more closely describes the problem. The orange shake is a soy based product and the chai is a whey based product... I would think the chai would cause more problems as far as lactose is concerned. The orange shake is a low lactose product but not lactose free. The Ready to Drinks are lactose free.
Hope you're feeling better. :D

Thanks for the clarification, Jan. No, I don't have any of the symptoms you mentioned, just nausea. So maybe it was unrelated to the food, you're thinking? Should I just wait it out?

Could you be pregnant?

That was the first thing that occurred to me, actually, and while it's possible, it's not probable. Boy would I not be pleased if I were - not right now.
