Moody and Lethargic week 4

Postby vegasmedifast » July 15th, 2007, 8:11 am

Hi everyone,

Monday will mark the start of week 4 on the plan. For the past few days, I've been struggling. I'm worn out (and don't work out), tired, feel lazy.

I've also been extremely volatile with my husband and family - cranky, short tempered. It is worst in the AM and I literally wake up wanting to throw things around in anger. It's NOT like me.

I feel like I've hit a plateau as well. The scale hasn't moved, the clothing isn't making much a difference.

Has anyone else had this? As a female, I recognize that it could be PMS, but I never experience symptoms like this. This is just getting really hard.

Anyone been through this? Is the moodiness and lethargy normal? I am eating 6-8 oz of protein each day and getting all of my meals in.

Most folks experience a plateau around week 3-4. It should start up again soon for ya.

As for the energy level, typically your energy level increases so I am a bit miffed on that. Perhaps change your program around, cut out the bar for a couple days or so. Hopefully others can put in their 2 cents and the right ideas pop up.

Good luck.

Re: the moodiness ... estrogen is stored in your fat cells. So when you lose fat (especially a lot in a hurry, as on Medifast), that estrogen gets released and you usually wind up with a whole bunch extra. So it's VERY common to have a change in your cycle, or to get pregnant (be extra careful if you don't want to) and to have increased PMS symptoms, at least for a while. If that's what it is, it will settle down.

Robin said exactly what I was going to say. And she's right, it will settle down. You reach another equilibrium at some point. My cycle lengthened for several months, and now for the last two months it's been back to normal, with no PMS symptoms (if you ask me - ask my husband and I'm sure you'll get a different story on that one.... ;) ) I was one of those who never had any symptoms at all, so I know what you're going through on this. Hang in there. It IS very disconcerting but it will change.

Hi all - thanks for the help!

AF arrived today (not surprising) so I was very interested in the fact about the estrogen levels. WOW. It all makes sense since I normally have NO PMS symptoms at all (I was a horrid pregnant woman though - my poor husband).

Thank you 3 SO much - it's easier to deal with this now that I understand the symptoms and reasons behind them.
