Mission Goal: March 27, 2005

Post your weight loss successes or failures here...:)

Postby Nite Izes » January 22nd, 2005, 9:17 am

I just want to say, although my weight loss may seem slow for 3 weeks, my body shape is getting smaller and more defined. Doc told me that although you see your weight loss as slow, I am right on track for my situation.

Today, I noticed I have a waist line curve that goes inward to my body, letting me know that my upper torso and hips are really two different areas. Oh, yeah, an hourglass shape should be on me in the very near future!!!!!! Now for those hipbones to make a grand entrance, I am, waiting :byebye:

Doc said my body is very firm and although the weight loss to me seems small, she said my thigh and leg muscles are great, she can feel it and no loose, flabby skin seen yet and that my back as well very firm. My tummy is looking good and is firm and decreased alot, not wobbly, flabby or having any hanging skin there. That is good and encouraging news to hear.

She recommended (and I have been using) these elastic purple resistance band with handles on each end to use as a workout, similar to some form of Pilates. I still incorporate the Gazelle, the treadmill I haven't been using much lately. The resistance band, I use 2x a week for 20 mins max. She does not want me to build up too much muscles yet, she really want me to lose the fat. But the exercise given is doing both for my body. One day, I do upper body and the other day I do lower body band execerises. The Gazelle, I use 2-3 times a week for 20-30 mins. She said do not do more than that time given becaase the idea is to concentrate on losing the fat and not build up too much muscle right now since I am still morbidly obese.

Also building muscle causes a slower or unoticeable weight loss when you check the scale. But, although the loss is slow, my clothes are getting big that they are very loose on me. So I know I am on the right track. But I really rather see the scale drop in lbs since physically I cannot see the tranformation in the mirror. I'm confused in this process right now

Here's a pic of those elastic resistance band that I am using as part of my weekly exercise routine for body sculpture training. It really has helped me and only takes about 15 mins of your time 2 times a week maximum without exerting yourself, feeling exhausted or stress out from a demanding workout.

My cost about $16 (I have the medium resistance band) and you can get it in any sporting good store online, Sport Authority or Modells stores to name a few. Shop around and known which band suits you. The average price is between $10 - $70 depending what you want with your band (instructional videos or the complete set of resistance bands). So, for those that can't afford to join a gym or buy exercise equipment or just simply do not have room or even time to use gym equipment, I personally believe this is the best thing to use. Also you can store these anywhere, hang them in your closet or even in a small plastic bag.

Great idea Nite Izes!

Just be careful you don't get carried away and sling shot yourself into the next county! Kidding...

They really are great. As I've mentioned, I just started going to a trainer and she incorporates them into my routine. They are great and good for travel too as they are so small, lightweight and easy to pack.

I am very certain that I am losing weight, I can feel it and that is good news. I cannot wait for the moment that this cast is taken off, so I can actually be weighed.

What a fabulous surprise that is going to be - when you finally get the cast off and can weigh yourself! I would love to stay off the scale for 1 week even and see the difference in week increments -- but alas, I'm a slave to the dang thing and can't stop myself from stepping on it every morning.

Hang in there Nite - you are doing great!

I really gotta work my buns off if I'm gonna lose those last 22 lbs in 23 days. Sounds kinda impossible doesn't it??

Oh, well if at least I can lose another 8-10 lbs in 23 days I would have met about 75% of my goal, being I had that cast issue that caused a fallback in my mission here. If not, I definitely know I would have made my goal here. Let's see how things go for me till the 27th. Someone recommended I add those days (about 30 extra days or so) that I was in a cast to help compensate the diversion my mission took.

I have lost 25 lbs since starting this mini goal and am 15 lbs away from completing this mission. It has been one heck of a challenge and am going to stay determined that I will make it. Even if I do not succeed, I still have accomplished a lot by losing the weight under such difficult circumstances.
