Milk

How horrible is it to substitute a cup of skim milk for a meal, on occasion?

I know it is the ideal if you run out, but is it the vitamin count that makes it an all the time no-no?
Don't really care as long as everything's better than yesterday was...

Hi, Sidrah.

How often is "on occassion?"

It could be the vitamins. It could also be the sugars (lactose). It could also be the fact that it's not a complete protein (doesn't contain all the amino acids in the right proportions). I'm sure someone will look this up and post a more accurate and decisive response. Just 6-a.m. musings, here.

The Quick Start Guide says you may substitute 1 glass of milk for a meal if you run out but only for 1 day.

Skim milk is a complete protein and is not a problem, on occasion. Just depends on one's definition of "occasion".

I do this about 3 times a week, as I have HUGE milk cravings. Milk is definitely my downfall! I use skim milk. It also helps with my tummy troubles. I have a history of ulcers, and milk helps to keep my tummy settled. I haven't had any trouble with doing this, but it is not technically "on plan". I am not telling you to do it, I am just saying I have done it with no trouble!
