Message About Martha!

Postby Nancy » September 1st, 2005, 9:35 pm

Hi, Folks ~

Great news! Terry and I made it to the Oregon coast late this afternoon and while we were having dinner my phone rang. I didn't recognize the phone number or the prefix so I ignored the call and five minutes later when I checked my message, it was from Doug - Martha's husband!

I tried to return the call over 30 times...kept getting a busy signal or the message about the circuits being busy due to the hurricane.

Here's what Doug had to say...

He addresesed me as "Miss Nancy" and told me he was calling on behalf of Martha. He said that they sustained 'some tree damage' and then he corrected himself and said a 'a lot of damage.' He said that Martha was all right and that it would be about three weeks before they were back up and running. He said they were blessed to be safe and well. His message was very short but long enough to be reassuring to us.

I will try to return the call again tomorrow. There is a two - three hour time difference between us.

Folks, this is good news - very good news. Please continue to pray for Martha, Doug, their family and for all of our countrymen.

xxxooo

P.S. Doug said that Martha said she loves all of you, too!

One little note about our gal - when I talked to her Sunday as she was grabbing one last load of personal items, she was copying down everyone's email address and birthday so she'd have your info with her...talk about the captainette going down with her ship, eh?

Love her to pieces and all of you for your caring and loving ways...you are the best!

This is such great news. My husband has a friend stuck there right now and really trying to look for news of her. It is terribly scarey and frusterating.

Martha said there is no postal support at this time. I told her we were collecting donations and at this time, she said they have food, water and each other.

You may want to hold off for a while until I know more. I asked her if we could wire it to her and she said just wait. Pray for the others - "not for us, for the others. We are well."

See the note I just posted under A Message From Your Hosts...

Martha I am so greatful that you are OK. There are so many that aren't. I work at methodist children's hospital in San Antonio and we are getting alot of Katrina victims. The degree of this storm is impossible to comprehend. My prayers go out to everyone touched by this disaster.
