Congratulations, Mary, and great job!!!

And Skye, we all had to start somewhere. In some ways, goal will be here in a flash. So I agree with Lizabette, I started preparing for maintenance LONG before I got here.

I had an epiphony at lunch, just me and my cup of MF soup. I think there are greater lessons on this weightloss journey than just how to eat. You probably recognized that during your weightloss phase, but it is just occuring to me. I really believe that keeping my word to myself, over and over and over, (especially in those moments when it would be so easy to cheat and no one but me would know) brings a new level of living consciously and responsibly to my life in general, not just my weight. Having restarted recently (successfully I might add!) has had me take a look at the conversations that surround my weight. What has me want to eat that is separate from the rumble in my tummy. Just thought I'd share what came up for me today.

Interesting, heady stuff....must be something in that soup.

It IS heady stuff ... but I agree with you, that is part of the work we do in the weight-loss phase. The way I see it, the program is really very simple--it's not always easy, but it is simple. That simplicity allows us time to examine ourselves and the reasons we became overweight.:dooh:

I'm really glad for you that you've restarted and are doing so well! Keep up the good work. Each meal, each pound and each club bring you closer to where you desire to be!! :bananadance:

From a daily inspirational email I receive ... I liked the article and thought it really applied to the transformative journeys we take in life:

Shifting With The Tide
Energetic Motion

Since our lives are constantly in motion energetically, change is a constant element of our existence. As dynamic as that energy is, it is not random or haphazard in nature. The shifts in energy that are constantly taking place are the result of our choices. The formulation of intention, a change in perspective, or the creation of a goal can transform our lives in blink of an eye. We think positive thoughts and the world becomes a brighter place. Or we decide who we want to be and become that person. With each passing moment, we are given innumerable opportunities to create change using nothing more than our awareness.

In the span of a single second, our lives can change immeasurably because energy moves at a pace more rapid than anything we can consciously fathom. Though we may not at first be sensitive to the vibrational shifts taking place, our choices are ultimately at the heart of these transformations. We can typically recognize the consequences of key decisions because we anticipated the resultant energetic shifts. But many, if not most, of the choices we make each day are a product of instantaneous reactions, and these still have a significant impact on the energy of our existence. It is for this reason that we should learn to wield what control we can over these shifts. If we bear in mind that all we think and all we do will shape the existence we know, we can deliberately direct the energetic motion of our lives.

Each day, you make an infinite array of decisions that cause energy shifts in the world around you. In many cases, these transitions are almost imperceptible, while in others the change that takes place is palpable not only to you but also to those in your sphere of influence. Your awareness of the immediate energetic consequences of your thoughts and actions can guide you as you endeavor to make the most of the autonomy that defines you as an individual. The myriad choices you make from moment to moment, however inconsequential they may seem, represent your personal power, which sanctions you to transform the energetic tide of your existence with nothing more than your will.

Have you gone into transition officially? I think I remember reading that you stay 5/1 for a week - but I haven't read it in a while.

Congrats on maintaining!!

I've spoken with my Health Coach about this ... I am going to stay on 5/1 for the next week. Then I leave for a 5-day (60th birthday) cruise to Cozumel. My plan, while on the cruise is to do a 4/2 and just choose food and portions wisely. I'll see how much damage I do when I get back. Hopefully it won't be too bad. If I need to stay on the 5/1 to get back to my goal weight I will ... and only then will I begin transition.

I plan on a very SLOW transition so that my body can more easily adjust to the reintroduction of food groups. Everything I've read indicates that to be the way to go when someone has lost over 100#. I may strech it out even further than the transition guide. I was in no hurry to lose the weight and I am in no rush now! :D Everything in due time. :D

Good planning, MARY. The 4/2 is what I did when I went on trips or whatever away from home.
I maintained easily while even on plan.
You are wise to not be in a hurry...that could get you in trouble fast!
Congrats on your 60th cruise...sounds wonderful!
Bet you have some new clothes and that you'll look so spiffy!
Sure would love to be a little fly on the wall.
Like I offered JO one time, I could go along and be your valet-et and make up your bed, lay out your clothes...whatever.
For some odd reason, she turned down my generous offer.
;)
