Medifast and Migraine Cure!

Postby Diet Diva » May 8th, 2005, 7:27 pm

Hello fellow medifaster,

I was cruising around the women's health section and thought I'd share this with you women out there. For years I suffered hormonal migraines that came like clockwork--2x a month, @ the beginning of my cycle and then mid-cycle. I dealt with these since my early teen years and I'm now 34. As an adult I've worked really hard to avoid going on a prescription, so I treated them with caffeine. It was far from ideal, but it allowed me to manage them at best. I am now happy to report that since Medifast I no longer deal with migraines. They are completely gone! It took about a month of being on Medifast for this to happen. There's no doubt in my mind that the soy and vitamin content contribute to this. I can't even express how relieved I am to no longer have these migraines. It really is a new life, thinner and migraine free!
Have any of you other gals experience similar results? I would love to hear other positive reports.

Take care,

.......Diet Diva.........I experienced headaches 5 out of 7 days.... .....although I don't believe mine were hormonal.... ....they were mostly due to excess sugar.... ......when I tried a low-carb diet they for the most part subsided.......however since Medifast I can say in the 3 months I've been on plan I have only had maybe 2 or 3 headaches ........ :yeah: .....so I say Ditto to your post and agree that the wonderful ingredients in MF help place our bodies into balance............. :yay:

Migraine Cure

Postby Jan » August 9th, 2005, 5:59 pm

Yes
I must agree with you. I have not had a migraine since I started the Medifast Program. Now if I could just do something about my sinus/ allergy headaches it woud be great. They have nothing to do with the program or food only dust. I even have a built in vacuum (my allergist prescribed it) but the dust still seeks me out. :x gerrrrrrr

I noticed that cloud of dust devils following you, Jan!

It is really interesting how many women report that their migraines lessen when they are on the program.

Many women have migraines possibly do to hormonal fluctuations just prior to, during or at the end of their menstrual cycle.

Men get migraines, too from stress, change in sleeping habits and our diets are also thought to contribute to migraines such as food additives (nitrites and nitrates) such as those found in sausage (uh, oh, pizza!), cured meats, nuts, red wine and caffeinated beverages can be triggers for some people. When we have more caffeine or less than what we usually consume, it can create brain pain.

As our menu and meal composition change on our Take Shape for Life Program, headaches for many people wane. I have a several clients who no longer need to take prescription Imitrex due to our nutritional intervention. That saves $ and those nasty side-effects.

I sure hope I have this side effect from Medifast too.
I have suffered from monthly headaches since I was about 16. I also have bad auras with my migraines, so my neorologist has tried prescription drugs but none have helped. I was recently diagnosed with PMDD...which is like PMS x 1000..... and that caused most of my monthly headaches. A few months ago I began birth control to help with the PMDD and it cut my headaches in half. Now if I could get rid of the rest of them, life would be great!

yup, my migraines are gone too Whooo hooo!! :D :D Those of us who have suffered thru the dratted things :x would use the program for no other reason than to part with the headaches. But, we get to part with the pounds too. For us that's an added bonus.
Hopefully yours will be a thing of the past too. :D

As posted in the other migraine thread here, Di has suffered from them all of her life. Medifast has definately decreased significantly the number and extent of migraines. Just one of the many side effects of the program.

Low after WLS 300
Start of MF 350
