Medifast and Exercising

Postby HappyHomeMaker » May 31st, 2007, 2:29 pm

Hello,
I'm going to be starting Medifast. I already exercise, but I was wondering if that would be a problem when starting the program?

Also, I know that you should not use Medifast if you're Pregnant, but has there ever been a problem with someone stopping after they find out their pregnant? And side effects, etc.?

Thanks
God Bless,
Laura

Okay, I was hoping someone who has more expertise on the pregnancy thing would chime in here first. Guess not.

Anyhow, on the exercise... the standard is that if you are already exercising, cut it back to about half of your normal program for about 3 weeks, then slowly move back up. Just be aware of your body and its needs.

As for the pregnancy thing, basically you don't want to be on any plan that reduces your intake to the levels that this program does while you are pregnant. That's the main issue. You can still use the Medifast products as healthy snacks while you are pregnant though.... my sis-in-law does. Nothing wrong with that.

Hope this helps.

Well, Thanks Mike, That does help.

So, I'm to cut back on my exercise...I don't like the idea of that...Why do I need to cut back? Because of my caloric intake?

Thanks again.
God Bless,
Laura

Exactamundo. When switching your intake from what you were taking in to 1000 calories or less, you need to let your body adjust... so the standard is give it 3 weeks then add it back in slowly (you be the judge). Don't overdo it, or your body may go into starvation mode and hold onto every pound.

And depending on how MUCH you currently work out, you might not be able to do the full amount even on the program, especially without adding extra shakes and calories. This is considered a Very Low Calorie Diet, and you can't expect to be running marathons on 1,000 calories or fewer a day.

As for the pregnancy issue, you might want to consult your doctor. That's something you should do before starting any program, anyway.
