I take the tramadol and prilosec with no adverse reactions or problems on MF. In fact I do not have to take the prilosec anymore because the GERD settled down since MF.

Googling will telll you if weight gain is a side effect of any of those meds. I do take meds with weight gain as a known side effect but strangely enough if I don't eat too much I don't gain weight! Known side effects do not apply to every person so just because it doesn't cause one person on this board issues doesn't mean it might not affect you. A medicine I take at bedtime is known to cause hunger and weight gain so I am very careful after I take it not to fall into any traps if I don't fall asleep quickly.

Yasmin (not YAZ) is helpful with weight loss and a darn good pill. But, it contains some of the same drug that is in a diuretic so drink your water. Don't worry about potssium, it spares it.

I know a few heavier people that have spotted a lot on YAZ but not on Yasmin. Something to consider. Personally, I think a copper IUD is the way to go.

Or you could be even safer, and follow MY lead. Just stay single and dateless for the rest of your life. I plan to immediately convert to Catholicism if I ever get pregnant (Immaculate Conception and all that).

Yaz and Yazmin have the same active ingredients. Just one is cheaper than the other. At least that is how my OB-GYN explained it to me 5 weeks post partum when I went on Yaz. On Yaz I lost 17 pounds in addition to a low cal diet. The only reason I went off Yaz was I had a miscarriage and I finally found a gyn that inserts IUD's. Since then I have been worshipping my Mirena (Plastic with hormones). No more of those nasty camps and back pains that I used to have. ;) Although I still get slightly bloated the first day. And tired...
So you can lose weight with your choice of BC, but it all depends on how your body reacts to the med.
And Biki, you were right about being able to lose weight on Seroquel. 1 week 8 pounds gone. Thanks for the encouragement that it is possible.

We could make you a saint! If you really think about it, Mary was a Jewish saint! But they have this little rule that you have to be dead to be declared a saint. So, we have to wait 40 or 50 years. By the way, my husband keeps making little jokes about Thanksgiving so I may have to put out...
