Meat in the Soup question

Postby lulu2000 » February 13th, 2006, 12:54 pm

I was wondering if there was actual chicken pieces in the Chicken noodle soup, chicken fast soup and in the minestrone  . I am a vegetarian, but getting sick of the tomato and broccoli soup. To avoid going crazy I am willing to try the other soups if there is no obvious meat. Thanks!

Lulu,

There is no chicken that I can deduce in any of those 3.

Both the Chicken Noodle & Minestrone have soy protein as meat, and the Chicken Fast Soup appears to have corn gluten acting as the meat.

Sanity seems to be yours!

Hi there,
Those soups are not vegetarian endorsed because they do contain some animal products -- most likely broth. But, you won't find pieces of meat. We use soy protein. So it's up to you.

Knowing full well that the Medifast products are based on soy protein, there is something suspicously like tiny tiny chunks of chicken noodle soup. I eat it about once a day and it seems a lot like the tiny chunks of chicken in Campbell's Chicken Noodle soup...might just be me, but if you're a vegetarian you might want to avoid it, because it certainly seems chicken-like even if it isn't actually chicken. Just a thought.

However, there is nothing meaty, or chickeny if you will, in the minestrone that I have encountered.

Depends how strict you are. I believe chicken fat is listed in the ingredients for the broccoli soup, actually. Someone asked about it before.

Ingredients for all the products are listed on the main Medifast Web site.
