when it says 5 oz of meat is that before its cook or after???

It's not silly at all. That is 5 ounces AFTER cooking. Or 7 ounces of chicken or seafood AFTER cooking.

I had the same question when I started on the program. I felt like I wanted to eat every last oz that was allowed. After awhile I got used to eye balling it.

Keep on asking questions because the Medifast plan only works if you stick to the formula medifast designed.

Yes, ma'am. A full 7 ounces after it's cooked. It's a pretty big portion.
