Measurements Are Motivating!!!

Postby Ginabobina1969 » May 2nd, 2006, 6:05 am

I HIGHLY suggest measuring before you start medifast but if you didn't, I suggest doing it NOW!
LOL

The reason I say this is because I did measure before and I used the bowflex tracking page(although I still havent begun to use the bowflex again yet) Anyway...

They have you measure: right arm, left arm, 2 " above naval, Naval, 2" below naval, hips, right thigh and left thigh.

Folks, I have been on program 11 weeks this Thursday. In alll of those areas combined I have lost a total of  39 inches!!!! To me, that is amazing and talk about motivation!?!?! WOOOHOO! :-P Even when the scale doesn't move...the inches help to keep you buoyed up to tackle another day.

I just wanted to share because I know how difficult it can be and frustrating when that daggone scale does wonky things..measure!!! 8)

HUgs,
Gina

I did not take my measurements...because I am a Weenie but...I wear a uniform to work..and my slacks are so baggy...I am thrilled!

Have a great day! :D

Hi

Taking measurements are GREAT! They saved my whole psyche when I was on my plateau...the scale wasn't moving, but my measurements AND the diagnostic Belt were BOTH moving!

That is motivating...though I normally let my clothes do the talking. At least now the people that work around me don't live in fear of losing an eye due to a button popping off of my shirt!

Nice to feel comfortable working at my desk!

I never measured myself before medifast, but let me give you an impression of what this program has done for me.

When I first began this program, I was a 3x-4x shirt size. I was 18-22 pants.

Now and remember, I still have the other half of my goal to go:

I wear size 14 pants and skirts and sometimes they slip off
I wear 1-2x shirts, but that is relative because I am big chested. All my weight is around my stomach

I CAN WEAR SKIRTS AND NOT BE EMBARAsSED! I used to cringe because I hated the way I looked in them.

I can actually try on wedding gowns; my boyfriend has been hinting something fierce about a surprise for me and I think a proposal may be coming in the next few months. I don't like to measure things out when coming to wedding gowns since you ladies all know that designers are cruel when it comes to sizing those things. In 1 designer, I can be an 18, the other 30!

The bowflex tracking page is in the bowflex guidebook that came with the bowflex..lol
and Yes Ark...39 inches total in all those areas...this is humiliating to post the befores and even now but here is the breakdown...

Before Now Difference
R Arm 18 15 3

L Arm 17 15 2

2 " above naval 49 42 7

Naval 48.5 44 4.5

2"below naval  55 49 6

Hips 51.5 45 6.5

right thigh :( 32 27 5

left thigh 31.5 26.5 5

TOTAL 39 inches

I still have a loooooooong way to go but thats a heck of a start...lol

I honestly don't know what size pants I was wearing when I started cause I lived out of superbig sweats and they were getting tight. I do know tho, that in January I couldn't get my 22 jeans up over my hips and gut. I am only 5'2 and was max weight of 276. Those 22's are now..baggin out and as soon as I comfortably fit into the next size down...these are OUTTA here! :) The Purple shirt I have all my pics in the studio in is a 26/28 and it was to the point that I was tugging at that to try and cover all the flab. It has now been retired, although I will always keep that and those purple sweats in my closet as a visual reminder of what I don't want to wind up in again.lol

Thanks again all and meausureee you will be glad you did! :D

Hugs,
Gina

WOW, Gina!!! I wish I had measured like you. I measured my bust, waist, and hips about two weeks into the program and was thrilled with the numbers. Looks like I wasn't using my brain b/c my waist was much smaller than the rolls of fat above and below so every two weeks when I measured my waist, the change was very little. It was only a couple of weeks ago that I realized that my waist was not where I was losing weight - it was above and below. Anyway, I'm just gonna let my clothes be an indicator of size but having exact measurements like yours are certainly a motivator.

I have to agree with you.....my tape measure is my best friend and tells me lovely things when the scale doesn't move or moves slowly.

My hips went from a 48.5 to a 42. :)
And my waist from a 38 to a 33.
My thighs from a 27 to a 22.

HEHEHEHE that makes me so giddy just looking at those numbers. LOL! See I had no idea how big I actually was. If my waist would shrink just a little bit more, my 12's would be comfortable. LOL!
