Meals with clients

Postby DogMa » March 9th, 2007, 2:13 pm

I have a friend who's considering Medifast but she travels on business and has to entertain clients quite a bit when she does. So what do those in similar situations do? Obviously, having a lean and green at dinner is no problem. But she's understandably reluctant to whip out a packet while out with clients at breakfast and lunch.

I know some do that, but any other suggestions? I suggested having just tea or coffee or a Diet Coke or whatever. Or getting hot water and making a Medifast cocoa or cappuccino at breakfast.

I would suggest exactly that. If its just one restaurant meal a day its eay to just have the L&G there, but when you are with clients for various meals each day then I would suggest what you said.

I know in situations where I absolutely felt awkward with eating a packet around a client, and had to eat with others more than once in a day, I just opted for two compliant L&G style meals for that day. It isn't ideal, but it worked. I ate about half the usual portion (as best I could judge without a scale) and had still had my 5 MF meals (essentially spreading my l&g over 2 meals). This worked, but is certainly not ideal.

Other things I have done is have an RTD with clients who aren't awkward to have them around, or just, as mentioned before, have tea and mention that you are not real hungry but can still join them for a drink.

Traveling

Postby Pegann » March 12th, 2007, 4:49 pm

I am so happy I just read those posts as I have a busy few weeks for work. Great ideas and reassurance. Next week we have visitors and will be together over a period of three days and nights for meals and I was starting to freak out just a bit. Especially for me because I am on a complete fast right now. The week of 26th I am traveling so I guess I will just need to do a lot planning to make sure I stay on target. The hardest part will be the constant questions. I know this probably sounds bad and/or silly but I really not ready to share with the world that I am dieting.

I understand that in some business suituations it might be impossible but I have never hidden from anyone that I am on Medifast or at least a special diet so they would not think I was ordering like Meg Ryan to be cute. Would you rather just have people think you are fat and doing nothing about it? I am glad to admit I am trying to change my life.

Yeah, I never minded people knowing, either, except on job interviews. I figured people already KNEW I was fat, so they might as well know I was working on it, too.

Interviews were different, though. I just tried to eat a lean and green, even if it meant having more than one in a day (because I did a lot of out-of-town interviewing).
