Need some advise:
1.) What's the rules on excersizing? I would like to start going with my very active wife daily, but dont know if it's safe
2.) I want to use the shakes that curb your apetite. Any thoughts? I dont see why everyone wouldnt use them if they actually work
3.) Can I use Lipolosis Testing Strips? I know some people posted on this board saying why waste your time. I just think it's cool to see the ketone color, that's all....
SMP Client, (what ever your name is)
Welcome, nice to have another guy on the board. Don't get me wrong, I am a "woman" guy, and love being the guy here, but a little support from another guy might really help everyone!!
Answers to your questions (IMHO)...
1. When (if) you get your first Medifast shipment (order a month worth to save on shipping - free) you will get a brochure/booklet that will tell you about excercize. It tells you to avoid excercize (as I have done my entire life) for the first 3-4 weeks (I believe it's that long) to acclimate your body to the new "program" (we are not allowed to use the "D" word here - DIEt - first 3 letters of the "D" word are DIE) After that period lapses and you are in "ketosis" and used to the program, you begin with light excercize. I am looking for a slap here, but I RARELY excercize - I know I would have lost faster if I incorporated the "E" word into my regimine, but I am way too lazy. I excercize ocassionally, nothing worth working up a sweat over.
2. Shakes curb appetite? Define curb... If your 50# O/W you know eating as I did. I am/was a pounder, and I dont mean a 1/4 ponder. Once your in that mild state of Ketosis, and your used to Medifast, you see the loss, you loose the drive to want food (can't believe I can still say that). The loss alone is an "appetite suppresant". I never thought I would see the day, where I was not hungry. We are overweight, and have been obviously overweight for a long time, so its a life style change. I still
(98 days today) get cravings, like the commercials on TV, or when Mama is cooking dinner for the kids... These cravings only last for seconds, and they are only on ocassion. When you see, and feel the loss, and realize the program really works, and the fact that this is the last "DIEt" you will ever be on, you realize your only cheating yourself if you eat. The hunger subsides as your body begins and continues to burn its own sugar and fat. Basically 99% of the time, I am not hungry - and this is not a lie.
3. Ketosis test strips - your call. Nancy (the board owner) will chastize you in a good way, if you buy these. Medifast creates Ketosis, and you do not need these if your honest on the program. I did the Atkins thing, and did buy a bottle of the "Ketostix" test strips long ago. I STILL ocassionally test myself, and yes, I am in that mild state of Ketosis. I also enjoy seeing the color change - 6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other.
Last but not least, as I have stated (read the numerous posts) Medifast works. Your Pastor did the correct thing. I have been on 9,000 diets (kidding of course - maybe I am not) and have yo-yo-ed up and down 1000 pounds. This weight loss program works, and its the last DIEt I will ever be on.
Stats:
I am a 42 year old large male. Began 9/8/03. 98 days ago today at 337 pounds. Today (or 3-4 days ago) I was at 249. This is 88 pounds gone, (average of .90 pounds a day) and I feel wonderful. I have somewhere around 20# to go. I feel the best I have EVER felt in my life, that I can remember If I can do it, anyone can.
Once a fast food - all food abuser, never again....
