Looking for Support and Advice

Postby blakeneyp » February 23rd, 2005, 2:30 pm

Hi,

My name is Blakeney and I am 24 yrs old. My starting weight is 175 and I am 5'9''. The reason I started MF is to lose 40-50 lbs for a cruise that I have planned for the end of May. I have always dreamed of wearing a bikini and hope to for the cruise. I have tried every diet and I just don't have the will power to stay on them. I started MF last week and I have lost 3 lbs. The diet is not bad, its fairly simple. But I am concerned with the exercise portion. I have been exercising on the eliptical machine (20 mins) and doing 100-200 sit ups everyday, since starting the diet. I read that you should not exercise, but I just don't want to give that up, because I know in the long run it will truely benefit me. Does anyone have any advise about this? By all means I do not want to slow the process down by exercising!!!

Your advice/suggestions are gladly welcomed and I look forward to posting in the future with my updates.

Blakeney -

Welcome to Medifast! I just love this diet. No measuring, weighing, counting points, etc.
Your questions have been asked and answered in previous posts and Nancy (our guru) has talked about it in her monthly newsletters.
Do a search on "exercise" and you'll find a ton of stuff to read.
Good luck to you and happy shakin'

Yup, that's right - you should not be exercising until the 4th week.

If you started your exercise routine when you started Medifasting last week, you are going against 25 years of clinical research and successful physician program usage.

If the elliptical trainer and sit-ups are a part of your usual life, do what the book says, cut your elliptical time and intensity in half and your sit-ups in half until week four.

Have a shake before your workout and a bar afterwards. I'd do 50 sit ups, go on the elliptical for 10 minutes and do 50 more sit ups and then 10 minutes on the elliptical and 50 more sit-ups.

Bikini time...read the book again and then do what it says...it will truly benefit you.

Howdy Blakeney,

Welcome to the greatest group in the world. I am an eliptical machine junkie also. Check out Nancy's comment, she always has great advise.

Before you know it, your dream will be a reality and you will be cruisin' in that bikini.

Hey Triskets, good to see you! That is my dream dog. After I loose my simple 100 pounds I will reward myself with a pup like that and of course name it after me.

Welcome Blakeney, Hang that bikini on the wall where you can see it every day.
Spunky, Love that heeler! How did you post that? What horse country are you from? I have the cutting horse capital south of me, the halter and show horses to the northeast, and a lot of PRCA cowboys and some racehorse farms and paints here. Happy shaking all!

Hey, Purp ~

I've missed you! What is your current weight?

You can be in better shape for July 12th when you are program compliant day after day.

Our family trip to Hawaii two and a half years ago was my initial incentive to lose some lard, little did I know then that I would end up losing half of my body weight and reach the weight of my dreams!

My dream can becone your reality, too with every shake you take. Be consistent - especially when you do not feel like it!
